🎬 Shooting Sustainably: Protecting Biodiversity 🌱 Productions often make considerations for the environment when filming in nature, but have you considered all the ways your shoot could impact biodiversity? We’ve teamed up with industry experts to explore key areas of production that can contribute to biodiversity loss and to provide practical solutions to preserve it, with many key points that may not immediately come to mind!  🌍 Land Use: Nicholas Day from The Crown Estate highlights how to check the sensitivity of an area and minimise land use change. 🍽️ Catering: Emily Williams from Doing Good Catering explains how cutting down on dairy and meat can support biodiversity. 🌿 Greens: David Searle from Palmbrokers shares how you can inadvertently introduce non-native or diseased plants to your shoot location and how to avoid it. 🔦 Light & Noise: Amelia Price from Sustainable Film discusses how light and noise pollution from shoots can impact wildlife and how to mitigate these effects. ♻️ Waste Management: Marc Todd from Hazgreen covers how to handle waste and how every department can contribute to avoiding environmental contamination. Speaker news: April Sotomayor works on screen industry sustainability through the development of WeAreALBERT's standards, toolkit, and projects, such as the Screen New Deal. April is lead convenor for BAFTA albert’s Sustainable Production Task Force and its Standards, Measurement & Reporting Task Force, each of which bring together industry stakeholders to develop solutions in support of the film & TV Climate Action Blueprint. April is a Chartered Environmentalist, full member of IEMA, and a Climate Reality Leader, and is passionate about creating practical, engaging pathways for all to participate effectively in net zero and biodiversity solutions. What an incredible 12 months for our partners at Sustainable Screens Australia. We've been so inspired by everything achieved, and we loved hosting Maree Cochrane in July of this year.

What a great way to celebrate the positive efforts being made by sporting individuals and organisations while inspiring others. . An incredible few days at New York Climate Week, promoting BAFTA albert and the important work we've been doing in film and television sustainability for over 13 years. It was inspiring to attend impactful sessions at Solutions House, connecting with WeAreALBERT steering group members, partners, and affiliates. I also had the opportunity to meet with Sam Read from the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance, after a year of Zoom calls and where we continue to collaborate to drive forward best practices, create standard methodologies, support sustainable production and amplify our work in climate content and storytelling on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond. #NewYorkClimateWeek #sustainability #TVProduction #ClimateContent #ClimateStorytelling
