January 2025 Monthly Round-Up! Wow what a great start back to the new year we've had! Thank you so much to everyone who has attended our events this month, we've had a great time catching up with lots of familiar and also new faces and it's been great kicking off the year with a bang! It is brilliant to see so many new people attending and enjoying our events - if you're new to the industry or Women in Property you are always welcome to attend our events but if you want to reach out before you do come along, just drop us a message or reach out to a committee member! A special thank you to Carter Jonas and GIA Surveyors for our joint networking event with YEP Birmingham at Clays earlier this month, and thank you to those who attended our first Netwalk event in Sutton Park as well as our first Brunch club of the year! It was great to meet the lovely new members who attended. We also kicked off the 2025 Midlands Student Awards regional judging days, where we interviewed 25 fantastic nominated students across three days at Savills Birmingham office. We were so inspired and can't wait to see the Student Awards unfold this year! A huge thank you to Willmott Dixon for sponsoring the Midlands Student Awards this year and thank you to all the judges who participated this week. We also held our first monthly virtual Book Club of the year, and next month's Book Club choice is "The Penelopiad" by Margaret Attwood. We will be meeting again at the end of February to discuss our thoughts on this book, so if you would like to join Book Club please contact Sophie Smith We are excited about our upcoming events in February! We have been blown away by their talent and we are feeling very inspired after meeting them all. ***NEW EVENT - SITE TOUR*** Please join the Midlands branch on Friday 4th April at 12pm for an exclusive member-only site tour of Birmingham’s tallest and newest building, The Octagon! The Octagon is the world’s first purely octagonal high-rise residential building, which with a height of 155 metres will create an instantly recognisable addition to the skyline that will become as iconic as other modernist city landmarks such as the Rotunda. The Octagon will house 370 purpose-designed Build-to-Rent homes across its 49 storeys, offering a mix of one, two and three-bedroom options, including affordable homes. 🌟 MIDLANDS STUDENT AWARDS 2025 - DAY 1! 🌟 The Midlands committee are delighted to have kicked off the 2025 Midlands Student Awards today with our first regional judging day! We are absolutely blown away to have 25 students nominated this year across 11 West and East Midlands Universities - what an amazing amount of nominations! Thank you so much to everyone who attended our first Midlands Brunch Club this morning at Boston Tea Party Cafes in Birmingham! This was a great opportunity for new members to introduce themselves as well as existing members to catch up with familiar faces, whilst learning from our soon to be Midlands Chair Kezia Smart MRICS all there is to know about Women in Property and how they can deliver as an organisation. Thank you so much to those who joined us last Friday for our first Netwalking event of the year in Sutton Park! Despite the strong winds and storm it was great to blow off the cobwebs and get our and about for a brisk walk to finish off the week. Please keep your eyes peeled for future Netwalking events, they're a good way to make sure we remember to keep active as well as taking a pause from our busy lives!

On Saturday 8th February Kareen will be hosting "Mindbeats" - a Self-Care Silent Disco in order to unwind, recharge, and connect with like-minded women in a safe and supportive space. We are a big supporter of Kareen and Calmify and have hosted a series of events with her in the last 2 years, so we know how excellent she is at delivering these events and enabling us to focus on our wellbeing and mindfulness.
