  • Youth Technology Incubator (YTI) is just one of AACI’s youth programs and last year, they had 2,249 youths return as program participants! 🥰 AACI YTI is a FREE program for Santa Clara County residents ages 8-24 that uses arts and media to promote healthy lifestyles, positive skill development, social emotional learning, storytelling, confidence building and advocacy. We strive to strengthen self-confidence within our participants by providing them life skills around substance use prevention and mental health tools through free creative storytelling programming, so that they can make the right choices for themselves while building community with their peers. 🤩 To learn more about AACI’s Youth Technology Incubator program, please visit https://lnkd.in/guiAaKzF or @ytechincubator on Instagram. #aaci #youthtechnologyincubator #yti #impactmetrics

  • Born in Korea, Lisa moved to the United States at age 30 with her husband and two young sons. As an immigrant without English skills, she never completely felt at home. However, she and her husband worked diligently and opened a restaurant in San Carlos, and later in Los Gatos, that they poured the rest of their careers into. After retiring, Lisa’s sense of purpose in life was shaken. While Lisa enjoyed the rest from an exhausting career, her adult children were busy with their own lives and her siblings were spread across the globe, so she could not help feeling lonely at times. Lisa could feel her enthusiasm for life slipping. Lisa and her husband first heard about the AACI Senior Wellness Program four years ago from their neighbor Mrs. Wu, who has been coming to AACI since 1992. Lisa began to attend a few days a week and quickly fell in love with the new friends she met through the Senior Wellness Program as well as the variety of fun activities there are to do. Now Lisa attends the Senior Wellness Program two to three times a week enjoying very diverse activities such as playing ping pong, celebrating bingo birthday parties, taking English classes, Tai Chi, Yuan Ji dance, karaoke, and line dancing performances. She even learned waltz with her husband! 🥰 Today, Lisa’s life has changed for the better and she has found a home at AACI. At 65, she is full of energy and loves to laugh! “The Senior Center has given me energy. Time flies, but my mind is still young! I feel so excited to have something to look forward to.” Among staff, Lisa is seen as a “happy medicine” for the Senior Center! Lisa always motivates other participants to stay positive with her cheerful attitude and has encouraged many others to join the Senior Center! “In addition to meeting a lot of people here, I improved not only my English, but my Chinese too. I really enjoy the Senior Center, and I appreciate what it has done for me!” said Lisa with a big smile. 😁 At AACI, our Senior Wellness Program promotes healthy, active aging through programs, advocacy and engagement. Programs are designed to foster health, wellness, independence and social engagement. AACI offers a broad range of culturally sensitive and linguistically competent services that empower participants with the skills and resources to overcome language barriers, adjust to a new culture, cope with intergenerational changes, establish a social support network and increase their awareness and knowledge of community resources. To learn more about AACI Senior Wellness Program, please visit https://lnkd.in/gVRpFQcz. #aaci #50thaaciversary #50thanniversary #ourclients #wherearetheynow #clientsuccessstory

  • In 2020, AACI quickly mobilized and kept our doors open to the most vulnerable members of our community during the pandemic. Throughout the early days of the COVID-19 crisis and shelter in place the following services continued without interruption: 💉 Health Center provided medical care, and COVID-19 vaccinations and testing for patients. 📞 Behavioral Health continued counseling and support to clients using telehealth and phone visits when possible. 💜 Asian Women's Home, our program for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, continued to shelter and support survivors and their children. 🥪 Senior Center is served nutritious lunches for seniors that are packed to go and delivered. We remained committed our clients and supporting those who were anxious, sick, or seeking shelter from abuse. AACI staff were consistently on the front line of the pandemic and worked around the clock. 👏 To learn more about any of AACI's services, please visit www.aaci.org. #aaci #ourhistory #50thaaciversary #50thanniversary #history #covid
