Thank you to all 16 RIBA Chartered Practices who joined us in Cannes last week. Our delegation has been busy promoting the value of working with architects. From panel discussions and networking sessions, to collaborating to tackle urban development challenges, we've been brainstorming solutions for a more sustainable future. Highlights from the week include ⬇️ 🚴♂️ Our RIBA President Muyiwa Oki PRIBA cycled all the way from London to Cannes, raising money for three worthy causes. He also chaired panel discussions on the Value of Good Design and participated in the Challengers Conference, where he brought together young design professionals with fresh ideas and new perspectives on the industry. 🏗️ Jack Pringle PPRIBA, Chair of the RIBA Board, spoke at our RIBA Reception, emphasising how British-designed buildings continue to set the global standards for innovation in the built environment. 🇬🇧 Mayor of London Sadiq Khan joined us at the RIBA Stand, as he focussed on on accelerating the delivery of affordable homes. We showcased our recently released Foundations for the Future report, which sets out a new funding model for the delivery for social housing needed to help meet the government's pledge to build 1.5 million homes. Exciting News from Able Partners! We’re thrilled to be working on a repurposing and conversion project in Brighton, breathing new life into a Grade II listed building with a fascinating history. Originally two elegant townhouses, this building has evolved over the last three centuries, transitioning into commercial use with multiple extensions along the way. Now, we’re transforming it once again—this time into high-quality student accommodation that blends contemporary living with heritage conservation. Our design approach focuses on preserving its incredible original features, including this stunning staircase, while ensuring the space meets modern student needs. Sensitive repurposing projects like this are at the heart of what we do at Able Partners, and we’re excited to play a role in Brighton’s evolving urban landscape. Able Partners continue their collaborations with Collins Construction Ltd by delivering a high-quality CAT A space for Barings at Capital House on 85 King William’s Street, London. The fourth floor, which will comprise c.14,200 sq ft, is well underway with the space fully stripped back in preparation for the next phase. The team is preparing for installation of high-quality Cat A finishes, including upgraded ceilings, high-performance surfaces, and a polished floor to enhance both functionality and aesthetics. Our latest project is taking shape with cutting-edge climate control solutions, featuring advanced cooling systems and integrated ceiling rafts to enhance airflow and optimize temperature control. While visiting Riyadh late last year, I was struck by the need for a pedestrian connection across Highway 65, which carves through the city from North to South. Inspired by the sand dunes of the Kingdom, we conceived 'The Dune Bridge' to create access from one side of the road to the other. More than just a bridge, Dune Bridge is envisioned as an urban oasis, offering public parks, shaded walkways, and spaces for community gatherings. By integrating urban greening and shaded areas, the bridge would provide a welcome respite from the heat. We have been working with our clients Collins Construction Ltd delivering a £3.5m building in Bloomsbury which will complete in just under 2 months. Final touches are underway on the 3rd floor, with all windows now installed. In the attic, significant work is ongoing, including extension to the flooring, roof reinstatement, and the installation of structural steel and decking in the plant area. We’re thrilled to see this space taking shape and look forward to seeing the final reveal in January. Look forward to sharing it with you then! #retrofit #officedesign #architecture
