Welcome home! 🏘️✈️🛩️ A trio of A-29 Super Tucano aircraft have arrived at Edwards Air Force Base where they will join a unique fleet at the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School Force Test Pilot School. The arrival marks the first newly assigned aircraft for the school in nearly 30 years. These A-29s were originally acquired by Air Force Special Operations Command but divested after mission requirements changed. The Air Force Test Center and school leadership saw these excess aircraft as a unique opportunity to expand the flight test and training capabilities at Edwards. While the A-29’s airframe design is perfect for spin testing, the Super Tucano also offers an array of modern avionics with the ability to externally hang equipment through various wing pylons. This will allow the school to conduct training and research on a variety of multi-domain sensors and weapons, reducing reliance on T-38 and F-16 aircraft while enhancing the ability to perform aspects of the developmental test mission. 🤖Bring on the bots! The Department of the Air Force Bot Operations Team, known as DAFBOT, held a weeklong event providing exposure to members of Tinker Air Force Base to Robotic Process Automation or RPA. Bots are used to automate repetitive, rule-based processes usually performed by a person. This may be entering data into a form, saving a file, or preparing a weekly email by pulling information from several different applications and submitting a writeup. Bots complete tasks quickly and accurately, are efficient, reduce errors, can be shared between users, save money and time, and are quick to be deployed, freeing users to complete other tasks. #automation #bots #roboticprocessautomation #USAF

🛩️We're making #history here at AFMC! Gary Hogg, an Air Force Materiel Command standards and evaluation civilian pilot surpassed the 10,000 flying mile mark Sept. 24 in an MC-130H II Hercules during a routine avionics modernization program test mission at Eglin Air Force Base. Hogg achieved the 10K mark-- the equivalent to 416 days and more than a full year of time-- piloting the Air Force’s various C-130 Hercules models across his 41-year career. Hogg’s first C-130 hour began Nov. 23, 1983 at Little Rock Air Force Base during qualification training after graduating the United States Air Force Academy and flight school. He's done tours in Europe, flew through storms in Haiti, worked in aircraft testing at Air Force Special Operations Command, supported depot operations at Robins Air Force Base and more prior to his current position. “The thought that keeps coming to me is how much I enjoy the team that it takes to fly a C-130,” says Hogg. “A smooth-running team is just pure joy in the air.” More: https://lnkd.in/gc7MsU_d Photos by Sam King Jr. #PeopleofAFMC #storiesofservice #AFcivilian #USAF #AVgeek

Members of the 533rd Commodities Maintenance Squadron Local Manufacturing Flight at Hill Air Force Base are producing more than 100 different parts for the U.S. Navy to upgrade recently acquired F-16 C/D models into Top Gun aggressor aircraft. The F-16s will replace some older Block 1 F-18 Rhinos. An aggressor or adversary squadron is trained to act as an opposing force in military wargames. Aggressor teams use enemy tactics, techniques, and procedures to give a realistic simulation of air combat. The F-16s from the Air Force provide the USN adversary community an extremely capable platform, which provide Blue Forces a dissimilar airframe to train against. Through close relationships with the USAF F-16 System Program Office, the USN will be able to provide future upgrades to these jets making them even more valuable as aggressor aircraft. 🧑🎓Airmen with doctoral degrees make up just .007 percent of the Air Force enlisted population. In a service with 260,000 enlisted, there has never been a period where even 100 held doctorates, and most years this stat is in the single digits. Well, we're proud to add one AFMC Airman to the .007% club. Huge congrats to the 412th Test Wing, Edwards Air Force Base's Chief Master Sgt. Jermaine King, the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the 412th Mission Support Group who completed his doctorate in education, becoming one of the elite few enlisted who can add "doctor" before his name. How did he get to this point? King joined the Air Force as a chance to escape the lack of opportunity inner city life brought before him. He was in the military 13 years before he decided to get his Community College of the Air Force degree. A position in career advising at Joint Base San Antonio spurred his decision to pursue a Master’s degree in Organizational Development and Leadership, leading him to take positions teaching as an Adjunct Professor of MBA, leadership, human resources, project management, and emergency management at five universities and to subsequently pursue his doctorate. Finally, after years of dedication and passion King has a doctorate degree in education. What an inspiring #Airman! 👍Clean energy for the win! Unlike traditional geothermal techniques that rely on rare geological formations of hot water and steam that limit their use, geopressured geothermal systems repurpose cutting-edge fracking technology to extract thermal energy from miles below the Earth’s surface. If successful, the demonstration could lead to a full-scale project at Ellington Field Joint Air Reserve Base in Houston, Texas, that would usher in a new era of clean-power producing plants that meet the entire energy needs of installations in the DAF. #science #energy #cleanenergy #defense #contract
