🧠💚 Mental Illness Awareness Week is here! From October 6 – 12, culminating in World Mental Health Day on October 10, Alexander Youth Network is proud to be part of this global movement to raise awareness and understanding of mental health. We recognize the importance of discussing mental health year-round, and this week, we’re amplifying those conversations. We are proud to support NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) in advocating for stronger mental health policies and creating supportive spaces for open dialogue. We aim to break the stigma and foster compassion for those affected by mental health challenges through engaging in activities and discussions. Interested in making a difference? Today is Kids Music Day! 🎶 Did you know music is a powerful part of the healing journey for many children at Alexander Youth Network? At our Charlotte Residential Program, we use therapeutic drumming to help kids learn rhythmic and predictable patterns that their brains recognize. These patterns help restore healthy brain sequences often disrupted by stress and trauma. Music is more than just sound; it can also be a tool for healing. 🎵 Interested in sharing your musical talents? We’re looking for passionate volunteers to make a difference in our kids' lives. We’re excited to share the positive impact that Alex and Zander, our therapeutic support bunnies, continue to have on the children at our Charlotte campus. These gentle creatures play a vital role in our therapeutic approach, providing numerous benefits to our young residents. Benefits of Therapeutic Support Animals:🐰💚 Improving Touch Sensitivity: Interactions with bunnies help children enhance their comfort with physical touch, promoting sensory integration and reducing anxiety. Non-Judgmental Relationship Building: Alex and Zander offer a safe space for children to express their feelings without fear of judgment, fostering trust and emotional openness. Building Skills: Engaging with therapy animals enhances social skills, responsibility, and empathy as children learn to care for and connect with them. Here’s a picture of Beth Altmix, our dedicated therapist at our Charlotte campus, enjoying a moment with Alex and Zander. How cute are they? And yes, we love their names too—Alex and Zander, just like our organization! 💚🐰 #TherapeuticSupportAnimals #ChildrensMentalHealth #AlexanderYouthNetwork #NMTModel #AnimalAssistedTherapy #MentalHealthMatters

✨ Celebrating 5 Years of Impact! ✨ As we close this month, we’re excited to share a major milestone—a perfect way to end on a high note! This month marks five years since our merger with Youth Focus, and together, we've positively impacted countless children and families. Through this merger, Alexander Youth Network has expanded our services, allowing us to offer more comprehensive programs to children and adolescents while strengthening our presence in Guilford County. Youth Focus continues to provide critical crisis services to young adults, seamlessly aligning with our affiliate, The Relatives. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, which came just months after our merger, we emerged stronger, more resilient, and even more united in our mission to support the youth who need us most. Here’s to the past five years and to many more ahead, making a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. 💚

Together, we can make a difference. 💚 #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealthMatters #SupportEachOther #EndTheStigma #YouAreNotAlone
