🌟 Empowering Excellence: All Means All Coach Training 2024 🌟 At All Means All, we believe that exceptional, context-responsive coaching is key to helping leaders create transformational outcomes for all students. That's why we've just wrapped up our annual summer coach training session! This full-day event brought together our talented coaches from across the country - the majority of whom are AMA alumni themselves. They dove deep into our 5 Habits of Effective Coaching, preparing to support our AMA leaders virtually throughout the coming year. Following this training, our coaches meet monthly in community to practice and sharpen skills, to celebrate the wins of their leaders, and to align on priorities for support. The day was intense but inspiring, filled with intentional learning, practice, and yes - plenty of fun! Coaching is a cornerstone of the AMA experience. We're excited to see how these partnerships will drive transformation in schools across America! We were deeply honored to have Dr. John King Jr., 15th Chancellor of The State University of New York and former U.S. Secretary of Education, deliver a powerful address to Cohort 3 at their closing Impact Ceremony. This event marked the culmination of their transformative 15-month journey with All Means All. Dr. King's words resonated profoundly with our mission: "This work matters. The kids we worry most about matter." His address underscored the critical importance of our work in addressing inequities in education, especially for students with disabilities and students of color. Building a Culture of High Expectations at Excel Academy When Sarah Stuntz, principal of Excel Academy Charter Schools High School in Boston, joined All Means All's Cohort 3, she didn't just transform her leadership and student outcomes - she revolutionized her school's culture. The results? Students with disabilities showed the highest growth in survey responses to: "How high are teachers' expectations?" "How often do teachers push you to not give up?" This isn't just about numbers. It's about creating a school where EVERY student is challenged to reach their full potential. As we conclude this year’s Disability Pride Month, we are interested in uplifting the voices and experiences of what "disability pride" means from the disability community. Two years ago, Andrew Pulrang wrote this thought-provoking piece that remains relevant today and likely will for years to come. Pulrang explores the concept of disability pride through his personal journey and the perspectives of other disabled voices. He notes: "Maybe after all it's best to leave the definition and meaning of 'disability pride' fluid and flexible. It may not be all it tends to be cracked up to be as a slogan, a goal, or a badge of, well, pride. 'Disability pride' works much better as a concept to be worked over by each disabled person in their own mind and in light of their own experience." This nuanced view reminds us that disability pride isn't about ignoring challenges or difficulties. Instead, it's about recognizing the full humanity and varied experiences of disabled individuals. At All Means All, we believe in creating educational spaces that embrace this complexity. We strive to foster environments where all learners can explore their identities, assets, and challenges freely. As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, let's commit to listening to diverse disabled voices and creating inclusive spaces that allow for the full spectrum of disability experiences.
