At AngloGold Ashanti we have long held safety as our key value. We all share a responsibility to prioritize safety in everything we do. Looking after our own health and wellbeing, and encouraging others to do the same, is a duty of each and every one of us. Our annual Global Safety Awards – Zero Harm Awards - consider safety initiatives introduced across our operations. As part of the judging process all operations submit nominations for the Zero Harm Awards. Our Australian operations identify initiatives throughout the year and these are celebrated at site. Sunrise Dam was received awards for three initiatives in the 2023 Zero Harm Awards with the Flashing Beacon Enhancement, providing an additional visual aid for HV equipment. The Flashing Beacon Enhancement involved the introduction of additional engineering and/or higher order control measures. The traditional flashing beacon on the back of vehicles was enhanced to project a continuous and distinct beam. AngloGold Ashanti's Zero Harm Awards are just one element of the company's unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of safety and innovation within its operations. By recognizing and rewarding proactive measures aimed at eliminating safety hazards, this program not only reinforces the company's vision of creating workplaces free from occupational injuries and illness but also drives continuous improvement in safety standards and operational efficiency. All in line with AngloGold Ashanti's purpose of mining to empower people and advance societies, and our values of Safety, Respect, Integrity, Sustainability, Excellence and Collaboration.

Improving #communityhealth and #sanitation Obuasi Mine very recently unveiled a newly constructed 20-seater washroom block, complete with ancillary facilities, at Anwiamu, Obuasi. Funded under the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) pillar of our 10-Year socio-economic development plan (SEDP), the facility is part of Obuasi Mine’s several initiatives to improve sanitation and hygiene, as well as the overall social development in our host communities. The facility has among other amenities, disability stalls, shower rooms and is user-friendly. In addition to addressing critical sanitation needs, the project also promotes local economic growth having been constructed by a local-based firm, A&A Engineering, showcasing Obuasi Mine’s commitment to local content participation and job creation within our communities. #SocialDevelopment #ImprovingWASH #HealthyCommunities #SustainableDevelopment #AngloGoldAshanti #Obuasi Samuel Pobee, INSEAD MBA Awie Frey Edmund Oduro Agyei Mavis Nana Yaa kyei .MSC, PMP Esther A. afrakoma hannah

Our first 6MW wind turbine has been safely and successfully installed at AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Tropicana gold mine. This giant stands at more than 210 metres tall from footings to blade tip and is the first of four Goldwind turbines we’re installing as a part of our Tropicana renewables expansion. The blades are capable of rotating at speeds of 10.7 revolutions per minute, generating clean energy that, together with 24MW of solar, will help slash the mine’s carbon emissions by an average of 65,000 tonnes each year. The Tropicana renewables expansion project is the biggest renewables integration we’ve worked on so far, and when completed, it’ll be Australia’s largest off-grid hybrid power system. AngloGold Ashanti’s Greenfields Exploration team has a strong track record of discovery over the past 20 years, including Tier 1 discoveries at Tropicana (Australia), Quebradona (Colombia) and Silicon-Merlin (Nevada). These periodic, high-quality discoveries are the result of several factors including strong executive management support, consistent budgets during periods of low and high gold prices and a diverse team with good culture, diversity, and technical skills. Since handing over the 13.3 Moz Silicon-Merlin discovery to the Nevada Project team in 2022, AngloGold Ashanti’s Greenfields Exploration team continued to manage a portfolio that spans five countries – Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Tanzania, and the USA. New discoveries are made by continued exploration work, essentially drilling holes, and since the second half of this year AngloGold Ashanti’s Greenfields Exploration team is now drilling in each of these five countries. While we read about declining investment in true Greenfields Exploration, AngloGold Ashanti continues to invest in the future and firmly believes that sustainable, organic growth via Greenfields Exploration remains an important driver for the long-term future of AngloGold Ashanti and the gold industry.

AngloGold Ashanti is proud to support the @Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative vision for a less complex standards landscape that benefits all stakeholders, sets a high bar for responsible mining and drives continuous improvement across the wider mining industry. Embracing responsible practices means adopting a full life-cycle approach to metals and minerals production that promotes positive contributions to society, addresses its impacts on people and the environment, and supports progress to a circular economy. We encourage all interested stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft Standard and multi-stakeholder oversight system. Your views are important in delivering positive outcomes for industry, local communities, the environment and others in the minerals and metals value chain – from mining to smelting, refining and beyond. The public consultation is open until 16 December 2024. You can submit your feedback and learn more about the CMSI here: https://lnkd.in/ewRp-D8P
📢 Exciting News! The first public consultation for the consolidated mining standard is now open! We invite all interested stakeholders to participate and share your views on the draft standard, governance model, assurance process, reporting and claims policy through our online consultation portal. Your feedback is imperative in helping to shape a standard and oversight system that serves the needs of stakeholders, sets a high bar for responsible mining and drives continuous improvement of environmental, social and governance practices throughout the value chain of individual metals and minerals. The first public consultation will last 60 days, ending on 16 December 2024 and is available in 8 languages. https://lnkd.in/ewRp-D8P ICMM Mining Association of Canada The Copper Mark World Gold Council

As part of the judging process to select the annual winners all operations submit nominations for the Zero Harm Awards. Our Australian operations have taken ownership of the process at a site level and made it part of their everyday work routines; not just something that is visited once a year ahead of submissions for the group awards. Initiatives are identified throughout the year and celebrated at site. Each week, the Australian mines, Sunrise Dam and Tropicana, consider nominations for the awards and every month the teams select three to four initiatives. At Tropicana the team developed five projects in 2023 for which they received awards. One that stood out was the Power Line Crossing ROTA Markers developed by an AngloGold Ashanti Electrical Maintenance team. It involved Installation of a new style of overhead line indicators known as ROTA Markers. These markers use the wind to spin, creating movement and contrasting reflective light to draw people’s attention to the devices and the powerlines at road crossings. The key to these devices is the movement, as motion is highly effective in triggering a subconscious awareness response in our external environment. The markers reduce risk of contact with power lines cutting the potential for HPIs or fatalities.

Proud to be a part of this journey alongside Barminco and Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions – trialling the largest battery electric truck in Australia. We’re looking forward to exploring where battery powered vehicles could take us over the next decade.
Through a tripartite agreement between AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Barminco Ltd, and Sandvik, we 've been trialing our TH665B, the largest battery electric truck here in Australia. The collaboration is significant in safely and effectively putting our electric technology to test in the toughest underground conditions, providing us with real-time feedback from operators to develop our technology further and continue to meet our customer's needs. After completing over 1500 machine hours, we are extremely proud of the results of the trial and look forward to continuing the partnership and seeing the truck continue as part of the onsite fleet. Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (IDE) is extremely important to AngloGold Ashanti. In our quest to enhance the diversity of our workforce, we talked to the women of AGA and their allies, highlighting the importance of allies in our IDE agenda aligning it with our values. Allies help in creating an inclusive work environment for all people to thrive at AngloGold Ashanti - specifically women, minorities, and people with disabilities. We are proud to introduce Andrea Vélez and her ally/mentor Alvaro Pico.
