Last week, we were pleased to welcome 22 students to our purpose-built Barminco Training Centre as they ventured into the world of underground mining during the September WA Mining Club Get in to Mining Camp.   The students came together from across WA to learn more about the many different opportunities available in the mining industry and what a future career in mining could look like for them.   We hope to see some of the familiar faces of these students at our global operations in the coming years!   #greatjobsinmining

We are proud to be working #SmarterTogether in collaboration with Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions and AngloGold Ashanti Australia to trial the TH665B battery electric truck at our Sunrise Dam operations. These trials and the understanding that is unearthed is part of our commitment to driving sustainability – for our clients and the broader industry.

Through a tripartite agreement between AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Barminco Ltd, and Sandvik, we 've been trialing our TH665B, the largest battery electric truck here in Australia. The collaboration is significant in safely and effectively putting our electric technology to test in the toughest underground conditions, providing us with real-time feedback from operators to develop our technology further and continue to meet our customer's needs. After completing over 1500 machine hours, we are extremely proud of the results of the trial and look forward to continuing the partnership and seeing the truck continue as part of the onsite fleet. Dozens of family members flew up to the Duketon Gold Project recently as part of a special day hosted by Regis Resources Ltd. It was a unique opportunity for everyone to tour the mine operations, get a close look at our mining equipment and experience a tasty spread at the mess. Our virtual reality headsets were a big hit with the kids and Mr Whippy made a special visit with some sweet treats. Thanks to everyone who made the day a great success!

Earlier this month, we were pleased to welcome 11 of our colleagues from across our African operations to Perth. Coming from Botswana, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Senegal and Tanzania, the group enjoyed experiencing the Australian way of life and visiting various iconic Perth attractions. Tours of our Barminco and Ausdrill facilities were a highlight, and the group particularly enjoyed visiting our underground operations at the Regis Resources Ltd Duketon Gold Project, offering an opportunity to identify areas of difference and crossover – and importantly, areas where we can learn and improve from each other across regions. The trip aligned with the 2024 Africa Down Under conference, and the group also had the opportunity to spend time with Perenti leaders and teams from our different businesses and connect with their Australian counterparts.

We are proud to have been operating the Spotted Quoll mine at Forrestania in Western Australia since 2011. With the mine coming to the end of its life this month, it was only fitting that our long-serving crew member Micky T picked up the final load of ore from the mine. Thanks to our all our people who have contributed to Spotted Quoll's success over the years for our client, IGO Ltd in recent years and Western Areas Ltd prior to that.

Our team attended the annual WIMWA (Women in Mining and Resources WA ) Summit held in Perth last week. The Barminco team included delegates from our site teams and corporate office and the event was a great opportunity to come together and connect with industry peers. Delegates said that themes of change, connection, and community echoed throughout each of the keynote speakers and discussions. Thank you to WIMWA for continuing to create positive change and growth within our industry!

We are very proud to see that one of our community projects in Botswana has been recognised by the Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group, taking out the Established ESG Leader for a Services Provider, 2024 Africa Award. The Somelo Poultry Project is a shining example of how innovative thinking and community collaboration can transform lives and create lasting economic opportunities and is just one of the many examples of where Perenti’s operations in Africa are contributing to the economic and social welfare of the communities in which we operate.   Congratulations to all those involved in the project. We also congratulate So They Can, the winners of the Changemaker Award which is sponsored by Perenti. #botswana #community #esg

Perenti was among the winners honoured at last night’s Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG)! Perenti, through its subsidiary Barminco, we won ‘The Established ESG Leader Award for a Resource Services Company’ for the Somelo Poultry Project close to the Khoemacau project in Botswana. The Somelo Poultry Project has evolved from a modest start with 100 chickens to a thriving enterprise now farming 470 chickens and producing more than 300 eggs per week. By involving community members in running the project, Perenti is ensuring that the benefits extend beyond immediate employment to include valuable business skills and experience. The award was jointly accepted by Perenti Chief Corporate Services Officer, Paul Muller, and Barminco Khoemacau Mine Superintendent, Oteng Makutu. Perenti also sponsored the Changemaker Award for a not for profit or charity that truly makes a difference through the work they do in Africa. We were delighted to present the Changemaker award to So They Can a charity working in East Africa that is keeping girls in school and challenging harmful cultural norms. The organisation works in Kenya and Tanzania and has increased girl’s enrolment in schools by 76% nurturing future leaders and engineers. Congratulations to So They Can and all the other nominees in the Changemaker and ESG Leader for a Services Provider categories. #mining #sustainability #africa #australia
