The EcoTarium was founded in 1825 as one of the oldest natural history museums in the nation. Their 45-acre campus in Worcester, MA is an indoor-outdoor learning experience dedicated to the study and exploration of science and nature. We are thrilled to be working with the EcoTarium, along with Timberline Construction Corporation, on the museum's new 8,300 SF traveling exhibit gallery, a sustainable expansion of the existing 1971 Edward Durell Stone building. You can read more about the project in the Worcester Business Journal. https://lnkd.in/ggSDTzhD

Our renovation and expansion for Peterborough Town Library received an AIA New Hampshire Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture Design and we were thrilled to celebrate! The AIANH Awards Celebration took place at the Capitol Center for the Arts Bank of NH Stage in Concord, NH, where we learned about the excellent work of our peers across the design community. Peterborough Town Library in Peterborough, NH was founded in 1833 and is the oldest tax-supported public library in the world. The awards jury noted, “The design celebrates the rich history of the original building in its use of similar building materials, proportions, and rhythm. The jury was struck by the restraint in the building materials palette, and particularly by the thoughtful and sensitive orientation of fenestration to create either lively public spaces or contemplative reading areas.” Thank you to AIA New Hampshire Chapter for this honor and memorable celebration, and congratulations to our project team! We are thrilled to announce that at this year's Docomomo International Conference on December 11, 2024 from 15:30 to 17:30 CLST at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Studies. OBO's Fred Poehler and Jorge Salcedo will host a session on the intersection of diplomacy and stewardship featuring SmithGroup, Annum Architects (Formerly Ann Beha Architects), and Krueck Sexton Partners. The deep dive discussion will explore what defines a modernist resource and how varied preservation, renewal, and rehabilitation approaches contribute to achieving stewardship objectives. From an owner's perspective, the session will raise important questions about how OBO's mission and goals shape planning decisions and examine the feedback loop between projects and industry standards. From a diplomat's viewpoint, panelists will explore the profound impact of cultural resources and how their stewardship strengthens international relations. From an architect's standpoint, the session will spark a dialogue about the responsibility of shaping the future of existing modernist buildings, delving into the delicate balance between forward-looking programming and performance considerations while preserving the historic architectural fabric. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion that brings together diverse perspectives on stewardship, diplomacy, and the future of modernist architecture! Looking forward to engaging with experts from around the globe. #DocomomoInternationalConference2024 #StewardshipAndDiplomacy #BuildingDiplomacy #CulturalHeritage #CulturalPreservation #ModernistArchitecture #OBO #BuildingTheFuturePreservingThePast #CulturalStewardship U.S. Department of State
