Biofouling on ships starts with slime, but it can quickly escalate to a major environmental and operational issue if left unchecked. Biofouling is a natural process where organisms like algae and barnacles accumulate on ship hulls but it all starts with a very thin layer of slime. On the 3 October 2024, the GloFouling Partnerships Global Industry Alliance (#GIA) came together for the penultimate meeting ahead of the 3rd Forum in Busan, with a focus on impactful projects addressing biofouling. For the first time since its inception, nearly all members gathered in person to celebrate the alliance's milestones.
