West Michigan AI Lab held their June meeting at AoE headquarters. It was great to connect with many community members interested in AI. Speaker Naomi Riley presented methods to quickly develop plans for corporate marketing using social media platforms and direct contact marketing with various LLM tools. The presentation included guidance on LLM prompt engineering for this application. #westmichiganAI #socialmedia #LLM

Collaboration, innovation, trust, and team work are so important at AoE. We know culture doesn't just happen magically. It takes thoughtful work. This is why we have a full day retreat with our team each year. This years annual retreat at AoE started with Anna Baeten from Failure Lab who lead our team through a training which ultimately helped us each learn how we deal with failure and roadblocks differently. Anna took our team on a journey of self-reflection about failure and helped us determine how we view it personally and in other people. The day ended with a team scavenger hunt throughout our GR community which included some very competitive teams:)
Every year Array of Engineers has an annual retreat in June/July so our summer interns can participate. This year we really wanted to focus on genuine connections and understanding at a personal and team growth level. We have an amazing team at AoE who are some of the most innovative, thoughtful, and collaborative people I have ever worked with over my career thus far. But we are all humans who handle roadblocks and failures differently. On Monday Anna Baeten from Failure Lab lead AoE's 2024 annual retreat. Each teammate at AoE was able to spend this time to internally reflect and learn how they individually deal with roadblocks and failures. Then we were able to share this with each other. We learned that each one of us deals with failure and challenges differently and how to respect, give each other grace, and build a more trusting relationship knowing this! Embracing failure as a natural part of innovation and learning fosters trust, collaboration, and ingenuity. This ultimately is a huge part of the "engineering design process".

Stacy P. just returned from Collision 2024. Here are some of her takeaways.
Thank you Jennifer Wangler and Earl Provost for the invitation to attend Collision 2024, tour Communitech, and listen/network with many tech entrepreneurs from all over the world! Some of my key takeaways from Collision 2024: 1. Start with a "real problem" when developing a solution for customers - be problem driven and obsessed with customer problems, then find a solution for them. 2. Don't pretend to be good at everything! 3. Commitment to quality is key 4. Automate then optimize 5. Collaboration is key for innovation I feel energized and excited about how technology can make the world be a more connected, collaborative, and thoughtful place. There are so many tech companies solving real world problems that are going to make this world a much better place. I am excited how West Michigan tech companies are playing a big part in this - collaboration with others is key!
