With the conclusion of September brought exposure for a truly talented artist! I had the pleasure of meeting Gustavo Oviedo (131 Projects, Inc.) during his month-long residency with the Arts & Business Council of Miami. Oviedo combines a dynamic fusion in graffiti and the depth of studio art techniques to ultimately produce captivating art and solidify himself as someone who is creating a lasting impact through his perspective. At first glance, the bold and highly contrasted shapes drew me in, inviting so much to be uncovered the more you engage. Described as a “biomorphic language”-- it was clear to see that the organic shapes serve as a contemporary hieroglyph, a reflection of society and the artist’s own personal journey and connection to underwater ecosystems. Through experimentation, an authentic, artistic identity was developed and opens the dialogue between audiences and his work. It was a wonderful conversation led by Alan Ket, I look forward to following Gustavo's journey! #GraffitiArt #StudioArt #Miami #ArtsandBusinessCouncilofMiami

Yesterday, Miami-Dade County held its final FY 2024-2025 Budget Hearing. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava reaffirmed her commitment to the arts, reallocating funds to address public priorities. Thanks to the advocacy of civic, business, and cultural leaders, $1.5 million was restored to the Department of Cultural Affairs grants, with a private sector campaign raising an additional $400,000. Special thanks to the Mayor, Commissioners, and all who championed the arts. We're excited for the new cultural season ahead and remain committed to supporting Miami-Dade’s vibrant arts community!
