Happy 60th ASU Gammage! 🎉 On this day in 1964, ASU Gammage opened its doors for the very first time. The Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy, played the history-making first performance and we are so thankful to have celebrated thousands upon thousands of performances with you all since then.

Ever wondered what happens during an ASU Cultural Affairs staff meeting? Here’s your inside look! Last week team members from ASU Gammage, ASU 365 Community Union, and ASU Kerr gathered together at the first staff meeting of the new school year. With a fun icebreaker, presentations from each department, and special guest ASU Gammage Scholar, Giovanni Ferreira, it was a great way to connect as one big team and round out August!

As part of the ASU Gammage Journey Home program, seven incarcerated women performed in front of 22 audience members, ranging from jail staff to ASU Gammage donors. The room oscillated from laughter and joy to tears and heartache, while both the inmates and audience members found common ground in a rare moment of vulnerability shared amongst strangers. Launched in 2001, Journey Home is an intensive four-week program designed to raise the awareness and consciousness of incarcerated women through creative writing, expressive movement, storytelling and visual arts. The program empowers these women to create different lives for themselves in the future. Thank you to Jenny Norton, Bob Ramsey and Union Pacific Foundation for sponsoring this year’s Journey Home program. Read the full story at https://ow.ly/yBgN50ShxoR
