Discover the faces driving positive change and progress in Belton as we highlight dedicated members of our city government! Meet Jordan Hoffman, the City of Belton's IT Specialist with six years of service. Jordan is one of the behind-the-scenes heroes ensuring smooth tech operations. His role spans providing end-user support across multiple locations, emphasizing efficiency for city employees. Jordan explained, “This ranges anywhere from working with employees to design and implement simple-to-use solutions for a changing technology landscape, to simply ‘restarting’ the equipment.” For Jordan, public service is about more than just a job; it's about building relationships. Influenced by colleague Andrew Collins, he values making work "people-centered," making his job a daily act of love and service. Jordan emphasizes the importance of communication in the IT field, making complex solutions simple and understandable for employees. One notable project was transforming the Public Works site, showcasing Jordan's expertise and contributing valuable knowledge. Andrew and Jordan took up the task of networking each of the 10 buildings together and implementing specific solutions for each building's use case. “I gained so much valuable experience and knowledge from this project!” said Jordan about the experience. Beyond work, Jordan enjoys exploring new places and indulging in good food with his wife, Hannah. When not on culinary adventures or watching “The Office,” he focuses on vehicle maintenance and home building projects. When asked if he could have a superpower, he chose teleportation, envisioning the time saved by moving instantly from place to place. Jordan Hoffman embodies dedication, expertise, and a people-first approach, contributing to the City of Belton's commitment to excellence.

Meet Lieutenant Mary Bruegge, serving the Belton Missouri Police Department for almost 20 years. As the Administrative Division Commander, she oversees Animal Control, Corrections, Records, and Building Maintenance. Lieutenant Bruegge is also the Public Information Officer and actively involved in recruiting. Motivated by influential teachers and empowering college professors, she joined public service, breaking barriers as one of the first female officers in 2004, and the only at the time. Today, Belton employs 6 female officers. Professional highlights include her role in the Criminal Investigations Unit and recent work in recruiting and retaining police officers. Beyond work, Lieutenant Bruegge enjoys DIY projects, travel, and wants to visit every MLB ballpark she can. When asked about her favorite TV shows she said, “Shocking, I know, but any crime documentary or podcast. This probably started with my favorite TV show ‘America's Most Wanted,’ with John Walsh, which started in 1988. Did you know the show is coming back this year?” In her 20 years of service, Lieutenant Mary Bruegge has become a dedicated and adventurous leader, breaking glass ceilings and contributing significantly to the Belton Police Department and the City of Belton.

Discover the faces driving positive change and progress in Belton as we highlight dedicated members of our city government! Meet Jenna Fernandez, our talented City Planner. Jenna's role is all about making Belton a better place to live. Jenna helps review and create new developments in our city and is the point person for planning/development questions. Working closely with developers to ensure their projects align with Belton's vision and rules, she also presents these projects to the Planning Commission, sharing the city's recommendations. Jenna handles permits for various projects, making sure they follow the rules and fit into their neighborhoods. She's also responsible for keeping our long-term plans, like the Comprehensive Plan, up to date. Using her graphic design skills, she makes planning information easier to understand for the public (and her co-workers). Her journey into public service began in college when she studied planning, fueled by her desire to make the world a better place. One of Jenna's lesser known, but most impactful, skills is her willingness to listen and help. If you have questions about a project, need creative solutions, or just want to chat about an idea, Jenna's door is always open. Outside of work, she enjoys tending to her garden, going to concerts, exploring the city, and watching horror movies, her favorite is "Contact." A movie that she says is the perfect combination of nostalgia, aliens, and inspiration. Next time you see Jenna, strike up a conversation about her latest gardening project or share your thoughts on horror movies. You'll find an approachable City Planner dedicated to making Belton an even better place to call home.
