🦺 As leaders and managers, we can create safe spaces for employees. https://lnkd.in/dZhn8PtR In today’s workplace, ensuring employees have a safe space to express their feelings and share their experiences—especially concerning discrimination and bias—is an ethical necessity and a crucial step toward fostering inclusion and mental well-being. However, a long-standing misconception persists among many managers: that discussing discrimination will only “reopen old wounds.” 🔵 CEC European Managers is challenging this assumption head-on with the #BeyondBias campaign. Among the many key messages in this campaign, a transformative and hopeful message emerges: creating safe spaces for employees is a healing and non-biased management practice. Rather than seeing conversations about discrimination as a source of division, the initiative highlights its role in building trust, improving workplace culture, and driving sustainable leadership. 👂 Listening to those who leave is not a sign of weakness but a mark of forward-thinking leadership. #BeyondBias https://lnkd.in/dGEr8u6q The idea that former employees have no stake in a company’s future is not only short-sighted but actively harmful. Employees leave for many reasons—career growth, personal changes, dissatisfaction—but their experiences within an organisation remain valuable data points, and managers can gather this valuable information to ensure the company’s productivity. The alternative view—”If they are leaving, their opinions don’t matter”—rests on the assumption that their relevance to the company disappears once an employee exits. This approach reinforces a toxic culture and damages the company’s reputation and external relationships. A non-biased management would collect insights from departing employees to foster productivity and competitiveness. As European companies strive to maintain competitiveness and build a coherent “Union of Skills,” initiatives like #BeyondBias highlight that the road to inclusion begins with systemic change and individual education. During our institutional visit to Brussels, EPBN met with CEC European Managers, an umbrella organization representing 1 million managers across Europe, to discuss our shared commitment to workplace inclusion. 🤝 🌈 ✅ DEI remains a top priority for European managers, and CEC is leading the way with initiatives like the "Beyond Unconscious Bias" campaign. Based on insights from over 1,000 managers, it provides 20 actionable recommendations to combat bias in the workplace.
