About us
The general objective of Bio-Uptake project is to ensure a sustainable uptake (increase the use in a 39%) of bioplastic composites through boosting a twin green and digital transformation in the European manufacturing industry. Bio-Uptake solution will focus scientific and technology efforts on developing flexible manufacturing processes to produce biobased end-products for the construction, medical and packaging sectors based on the combination of intermediate formats made of natural and/or biobased synthetic fibers reinforced with biopolymers, which are easily adaptable to new market demands.

📆 We continue our journey through the past month with the presentation of the 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 Cluster at the S3, in Alessandria (Italy). What is 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒? This is a cluster of 6 European projects, namely AMBIANCE Project, Waste2BioComp VITAL Project New Wave project BIO-UPTAKE and Horizon EU Green-Loop, united under the common aim of making sustainable processes and products a norm in the EU. We share a vision of providing a viable alternative to conventional materials by introducing novel materials and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques. As a collective, we aim to spotlight and address today's pressing challenges, using bio-based materials to generate innovative solutions. Last week I had the opportunity to present my work at the #GEP2024 Royal Spanish Chemistry and Physics Society conference. I discussed carbon fiber-reinforced composites (CFRP) and how innovative coating technologies can enhance damage detection in these advanced materials.
