Congratulations to Samantha Alexander, CEO & Co-Founder, of bitewell for being named the American Diabetes Association’s State of Diabetes Chair for the Denver event on November 14th. The ADA Rocky Mountain Team is thrilled to partner with Sam and bitewell to host a pivotal gathering uniting influential figures across various sectors to engage in a panel discussion about “Supporting a Healthier Workforce: Diabetes, Prevention, Resources, and Management Strategies for Employers”.
Samantha Citro Alexander is the Co-Founder & CEO of bitewell – the nutrition intelligence company on a mission to improve the world's health through food. As the CEO of bitewell, Sam is changing the way we think about food.
Sam co-founded bitewell in 2020, an early mover in the food-as-medicine space, and betting on a future that prioritized food as a crucial element of health. A female leader in a male-dominated space, Sam has raised over $10M in venture capital to build the future she sees for the world.
Prior to co-founding bitewell, Sam's career spanned marketing, strategy & operations. Her notable roles include Director of Global Brand Strategy & Chief of Staff to Jane Lauder at Clinique (NYC), Director of NA Marketing at Smashbox (LA), and an MA at Bridgewater Associates (CT).
Sam earned a BFA in Drama from NYU. She attributes a large part of her success to her leadership style – which merges active empathy (honed during her acting studies) with radical transparency (adopted from her time at Bridgewater).
Her passion for food’s impact on health is decades-long and began early in her childhood when she developed food allergies and gut health issues that restricted the food she and her family could enjoy. With the same care her grandmother applied to help her family navigate the complicated labyrinth of dietary ailments, Sam is determined to help the world navigate improved health through food.
