CalOptima Health is a county organized health system that administers health insurance programs for low-income children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities in Orange County. As Orange County’s largest health insurer, we provide coverage through four major programs. - Medi-Cal (California's Medicaid Program) for low-income children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities - OneCare (HMO SNP) (a Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan) for low-income seniors and people with disabilities who qualify for both Medicare and Medi-Cal - PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) for older adults, providing comprehensive health services through the CalOptima PACE center - OneCare Connect Cal MediConnect Plan (Medicare-Medicaid Plan) for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medi-Cal, combining Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits, adding supplemental benefits for vision, transportation and dental services, and providing comprehensive care coordination “Better. Recently, CalOptima Health attended the grand opening of a new WellSpace at Marina High School in the City of Huntington Beach. This new WellSpace is part of CalOptima Health’s School Behavioral Health Incentive Program (SBHIP), which invested $25.5 million in mental health school interventions in all 29 Orange County school districts. The WellSpace is a centralized location on campus that provides students with a safe space to practice social-emotional learning skills and de-escalate mental health concerns. WellSpaces are intended to help students develop resilience, perseverance and adaptability. The Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a regulatory ordinance change that paves the way for CalOptima Health to pursue participation in Covered California. Joining Covered California will help increase affordable health care options and ensure continuity of care for more than 15,000 Orange County residents who fall in and out of Medi-Cal eligibility annually. “By offering a Covered California plan, we aim to provide ongoing coverage to members so they can continue to receive services from their trusted providers at affordable premiums,” said Chief Executive Officer Michael Hunn. The program offers aspiring health care leaders a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a health plan and receive guidance and mentorship from leaders at CalOptima Health. Kathleen joined CalOptima Health last month and has more than 30 years of experience in health plans and health care technology. Prior to joining CalOptima Health, she was Chief Information Officer at Elevance Health (formerly Anthem), where she was CIO for Elevance’s Carelon Health Division.
