Camp #buildHER is an #opportunity for 7-10th grade young women to see what amazing possibilities there are for them in the #AEC industry. However, we could not host this camp without the #support of our companies and people who give their time, resources, and energy to this each year. Our camp would not be successful without the #support of the companies who provide us our activity #materials and #PPE - with these donations, we can continue host this camp #FREE of charge. At the close of camp, we host a graduation. A chance for the family and friends of each camper to come celebrate with them and meet our volunteers and committee members. At graduation, our first time campers receive a set of #startertools from #DeWalt and this year our return campers received a #Milwaukee cordless drill, battery, and bag! The look on our returners' faces - jaw dropped, pure shock and joy!!! Those moments make this worth it! Material Donation: Sherwin-Williams, Dunn Lumber PPE Donation: Tucker-Weitzel & Assoc. Often, the people behind the scenes aren't photographed or thanked (loudly or enough). I absolutely could not have organized and executed Camp buildHER without my incredible committee. So, THANK YOU! You have put countless hours, thought, resources, and passion into Year 2 of camp. I am so grateful to each of you and blessed that you recognize the #importance and #significance of what we are doing. Thank you Marjorie Elliott, Melissa Vollmer, Jaime Puracal, Dawn Lanz, Meykia (Smith) Mittag, Angela White, M.A., Erin Baldwin. You are #amazing! Along with our committee efforts, this camp would not have happened without our incredible #volunteers. They helped set up, transition between activities, hammer nails, pivot when we needed too, and most of all - #buildconnections with our campers. & just like that, #camp is complete! We finished out Day 2 of Camp #buildHER with a #heavyequipment demo with female operator, Brenna Moore (The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western), and equipment from Ascendent Demolition! Our returner campers learned that not everything goes according to #plan, and we had to make some last minute #adjustments to ensure our #parkbench would work! The campers also got to hear from industry #powerhouses - women who have made their #mark and are examples of how the #futureisfemale Closing out our camp activities, JPC Architects hosted a fun #blueprint scavenger hunt! We had an amazing graduation, with tools donated by DEWALT for our first timers & Milwaukee Tool Drills donated by Edge Construction Supply, Inc. for our returners! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED!

Today at the buildHER Heavy Equipment Event. ( Teaching 7 - 10 grade girls how to operate. ) This Young lady did amazing, she said, “ I can’t do it. “ Then just 3 seconds later she did it. That is what today was about, teaching the young ladies that they can do anything. It was Truly an honor to teach each one of these young ladies how to operate. I watched them cross the tape, terrified then as they crossed it again after they were done, each one was confident with a smile. The amount of pep talks up on the cab and us screaming and yelling in excitement over their accomplishments, there is no greater achievement in my career than what I did here today. I am so proud, so unbelievably proud of every single one of them. And thank you to those who were with me today, that supported me, supported them, cheered with me for them and helped me in every way. ❤️ Ascendent Demolition Rick Estes Joe Munoz buildHER The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western Amanda Ditzhazy Mercedes Gamor, CDP®, PRC Marjorie Elliott KEONE PADILLA Madisen Mccaulley #constuction #buildHER #heavyequipmentoperator #heavymachinery #inspire #teach #nofear #mentor #lighttheway #nawic #trades #wic #iuoe302

A personal favorite activity for Camp buildHER! Brenna Moore, Madisen Mccaulley, and Ascendent Demolition made this activity possible! Conversation topics included safety, compensation, and of course lots of cheering! #Womeninconstruction #constructioncareers #Heavyequipment #tradeswomen #camp
Day 2 Complete! We had a full day today, starting with a great #Safety Presentation from Amanda “Mandi” Kime, MS-SHM, BS, BA, CSP, CHST and a #Resources & Org Talk with ACE,ANEW, & Sawhorse Revolution for our older campers. Our returners got to start decorating our #parkbench & the first time campers #built & decorated their very own #toolbox! After lunch, we had an amazing panel of #womeninthetrades speak about their #journeys, share some #advice, and #encourage the campers. While our new campers finished decorating, our returners got the #opportunity to wire up a jbox with Prime Electric & learn a little about what #electricians do each day. We finished out the day with a #informative and fun tour (& hot!) of a #WSDOT #roadimprovement and #expansion project with Guy F. Atkinson Construction Huge thank you to all our #sponsors who make this camp possible!!!
