“I’ve been able to see things and possibilities that I’d never seen before.” Kris’s life was deeply altered when he was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. While coping with physical and emotional challenges, he cultivated gratitude through resilience, getting connected to CancerCare, journaling and his community, which included his tight-knit family, friends and support groups. Did you know that 62% of cancer caregivers face high-intensity care situations, often lacking the specialized training and support they need? We are pleased to join the Cancer Caregiving Collaborative, a new initiative led by the National Alliance for Caregiving to uplift family caregivers in cancer care. CancerCare's Alexandra Zaleta, PhD has played an instrumental role in shaping this initiative while serving on the Collaborative's Executive Committee. Alongside other leading organizations and health care leaders, we're committed to making a real difference for cancer caregivers by: ➡️ Advocating for caregivers to be seamlessly integrated into cancer care teams, ensuring their voices are heard and their work and expertise are valued. ➡️ Championing financial support services and economic policies that provide caregivers with the resources they need to thrive. Time is of the essence for people with cancer and other serious medical conditions to access their life-saving and life-altering medications. Thank you Michele Oshman and Biotechnology Innovation Organization for providing a platform at the International Convention to educate and alert others about the patient harms caused by alternative funding programs (AFPs). I would also like to thank Ashira Vantrees for organizing and expertly moderating our panel and for the opportunity to work with my fellow panelists Kollet Koulianos, MBA, Theresa Alban, and Richard M.

Just thinking about participating in a cancer #ClinicalTrial can be confusing and overwhelming for #cancer patients and their families. Our patient education series on #ClinicalTrials is designed to help patients and their #caregivers better understand cancer clinical trials so they can make an informed decision. This installment in the series looks at clinical trial phases: the purpose of each phase and what participants can expect. Patients who have greater understanding of cancer clinical trials and their rights and protections, are more likely to consider participating in a trial. We want them to feel equipped and empowered to communicate with their treatment team, to ask questions, and to self-advocate. Share this #PatientEd video with the patients, clinical trial participants & caregivers in your network. To view more of our animated patient education videos, including the other videos in this Clinical Trials series, visit: https://lnkd.in/ePSQ4FKG #CancerCare #PatientEducation #CancerTreatment
