The social impacts of caregiving can often take a backseat to the practical realities and tasks required of caregivers. However, it’s no less important in helping prevent caregiver burnout. Caregiving can have a notable effect on relationships with friends and family outside the household, including a lack of understanding and actions like: ➡ Being excluded from events or traditions ➡ Caregiver criticism ➡ Unrealistic expectations For strategies on how caregivers can approach conversations, situations, and boundary-setting with their loved ones, visit the Careforth blog: https://lnkd.in/eu4s94n8

Caregiving is universal, but how each of us experiences it is personal and based on many factors, including race. About 2 in 5 caregivers identify as non-white and 33% of caregivers reported mental or behavioral health symptoms, according to AARP and the APA. With July being National Minority Mental Health Month, understanding how to manage stress and mental health is vital for caregivers and their ability to provide thoughtful and compassionate care to their loved one.
