Electronic fulfillment has made our lives easier across the board. So why isn’t it doing the same for prescription medicine? According to the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy, 92% of Americans receive their prescriptions electronically. In this clip from our recent episode titled "Reducing Rx Costs with Point-of-Prescribing Tech," Arrive Health CEO Kyle Kiser explains why electronic prescribing is making it more difficult for patients to access affordable medicine while highlighting the need for shifts that reintroduce consumer choice into clinical decision-making. #healthcarepodcast #healthcare #drugprices #pointofprescription #prescriptiondrugs #medications #medicalbenefits

Nearly all insured Americans have prescription medication benefits. So why are so many Americans struggling to afford those prescriptions? Shouldn't these benefits cover the cost? According to KFF, one-quarter of adults face challenges affording prescription drugs, with even higher rates among those taking multiple medications. In this episode of CareTalk Podcast: Healthcare. Unfiltered., David E. Williams speaks with Kyle Kiser, CEO of Arrive Health, to discuss the factors driving the disconnect between consumer needs and prescription pricing, and how point-of-prescribing technology can be the patient-centered solution. 📲 Listen to the full episode 🎧👇 https://lnkd.in/gRQfHQ9Q #healthcarepodcast #healthcare #drugprices #pointofprescription #prescriptiondrugs #medications #medicalbenefits

By bypassing PBMs, Blue Shield of California could be setting significant industry change in motion. According to Statista, PBMs serve a staggering 275 million Americans. With so many Americans being serviced by PBMs, can they really be avoided? And if so, will it go smoothly? In this clip from our episode titled 'Blue Shield of CA's Bold Move to Bypass PBMs,' John Driscoll explains why this strategy might not deliver the knockout punch to PBMs that some in the industry anticipate. #healthcarepodcast #healthcare #pharma #PBMs #drugprices #pharmaceuticalcosts #patientcare

It’s no secret that medical drug prices have been out of control for most Americans. However, one hospital group has a novel idea to control drug spending. Blue Shield of California is bypassing PBMs by negotiating directly with the manufacturer of a biosimilar for Humira. This blockbuster drug costs the insurer over $100 million annually, but their approach aims to lower costs. Is this a one-off experiment or the start of a bigger trend that can drive industry-wide impact? In this episode of CareTalk Podcast: Healthcare. Unfiltered., David E. Williams and John Driscoll discuss these price negotiation tactics and what they see as the long-term results of Blue Shield of California’s attempt to lower pharmaceutical prices. 📲 Listen to the full episode 🎧👇 https://lnkd.in/gBZhgdWe #healthcarepodcast #healthcare #pharma #PBMs #drugprices #pharmaceuticalcosts #patientcare

A new report from The Commonwealth Fund offers a stark and scathing look into the many ways the U.S. healthcare system is falling short. However, the report has shown a bright spot in the form of care processing. Care processing encompasses many crucial aspects of healthcare, including disease prevention, patient safety, and care coordination. According to the AJMC - The American Journal of Managed Care, effective care processing and coordination are linked to lower odds of 30-day readmissions, reduced mortality rates, and decreased costs compared to systems with poor care coordination. So, why is care processing thriving while the rest of the healthcare system continues to struggle? In this clip from our recent episode, 'Why U.S. Healthcare Still Falls Short', David E. Williams and John Driscoll explore how targeted funding and focus have improved care processing—and how these strategies can inform broader changes across the healthcare system. #healthcare #healthcarepodcast #healthcarebusiness #healthcarepolicy #healthinsurance #healthcaretechnology #healthcarefinance #caretalk #ushealthcare #medicaldebt #hospitals #doctors #pharmaceuticalcompanies #pharma
