🙌 The third CARING NATURE #GeneralAssembly took place today! After 15 months of hard work—including needs analysis, feasibility studies, surveys, workshops, and more—CARING NATURE partners gathered online to take stock of progress and plan the next steps of the project! 📈🌿 The main objective of the day was to present and discuss the structure of the #deliverables expected to be released by June 2025: ✅ #KnowledgeSharing and #DecisionSupport system ✅ #Telemedicine exploitation ✅ Medical staff #engagement framework ✅ #Sustainable management of food #waste, medical waste, and #wastewater ✅ #AI-powered hospital #energy management ✅ #Impact maximization ✅ And many more green solutions for healthcare... These deliverables will serve as the foundation for peer-reviewed papers and the development of 10 innovative solutions to build a #greener healthcare sector! 🏨🌱 A special thanks to Brett Duane and Anita Griffin for their insightful presentation on the KitNewCare project. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 CARING NATURE 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 Today we celebrated the 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 of the EU funded project  - 🍃 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘈𝘵𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘵𝘙𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘕𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘕𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘈𝘭𝘛𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 🍃 Always an interesting exercise of 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 and analysis of the overall status. CARING NATURE would like to hear your expert opinion! The EU Horizon project Caring Nature is established to research different ways of reducing the carbon footprint in the European Healthcare sector.    By filling in the survey, you can help Caring Nature to develop guidelines for sustainable, future-proof hospital buildings.   As an expert in the design of healthcare architecture and hospitals, archipelago was invited to develop together with 4D architects the COMPASS tool, which will be a decision support system for sustainable healthcare architecture and will help clients and designers to take informed decisions regarding a building’s environmental footprint, adaptability and circularity. 

I look forward to contributing to the discussion on shaping circular construction in Italy during the national REbuild 2025 event on 6-7 May. I will share the Dutch experiences with the European Laboratory for Circulair Building - Green Transformable Building Lab, the development of the first circular hospital AZH Herentals in Belgium (Colaboration 4D Architects Amsterdam, archipelagosolutions , ABT bv ) as well as the CARING NATURE and REGEN EU Project. 🚨 New #Publication Alert 🚨 We are excited to share a recent research article authored our partner, Laura Lorenzon Surgeon at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS. 🏨🌱As part of CARING NATURE, she and her team conducted a study based on data collected at one of Italy’s largest university hospitals. 🤝CARING NATURE reinforced its collaboration with sister project KitNewCare towards a greener healthcare sector !🏨🌱 After a first round of discussion to establish a sustainable collaboration between the two projects, CARING NATURE was officially invited to KitNewCare's General Assembly, on 12 March. While KitNewCare focuses on environmental aspects of kidney medicine, CARING NATURE nature tacles a wide range of environmental issues whithin healthcare facilities. Working sessions with KitNewCare are already planned on 2 specific aspects: ♻️Waste management 📊 Environmental metrics Thank you to our project manager Pasquale Mari for delivering a concise overview of the project and to Thanasis Demosthenous ERCS Ltd for presenting the impressive costs-benefits analysis of a sustainable on-site pyrolisis plant to manage medical waste. 📌 Condivido molto volentieri quest'articolo di TrendSanità, in cui si parla di CARING NATURE, un progetto europeo nato per rendere le strutture ospedaliere più sostenibili. Sappiamo che, quando si parla di salute, la priorità deve essere sempre quella di mettere il paziente al centro, creando tutte le condizioni affinché possa essere curato nella maniera migliore possibile. 👉 Tuttavia, questo non significa che non possano essere messe in atto delle strategie che siano anche attente alla sostenibilità ambientale, per esempio incrementando la telemedicina e mettendo in atto una gestione attenta dei rifiuti ospedalieri. 🎯 Mi sembra molto significativo anche il nome del progetto stesso: CARING NATURE, che significa sia “aver cura della natura che ci circonda”, ma anche “avere una natura disposta alla cura”. La cura, quindi, intesa sia come l'attenzione e l'empatia che chiunque lavori in una struttura ospedaliera deve avere verso i pazienti, ma anche l'attenzione che ci deve essere verso l'ambiente che ci circonda, e che è parte integrale di tutto il processo. #sostenibilità #salute #CARINGNATURE #decarbonizzazione #cura #assistenza
