Tomorrow, Nov. 5th, The Water Research Foundation (WRF) will be hosting a must-attend webcast on groundbreaking energy-saving strategies for wastewater treatment professionals. This session is part of a three-part series titled, “Transforming Aeration Energy in Water Resource Recovery Facilities through Suboxic Nitrogen Removal,” which presents how suboxic nutrient removal (SNR) can drastically cut energy use while enhancing nutrient removal. This webcast is part of a larger research project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), led by Carollo in collaboration with other partners. The series highlights the full-scale demonstration at the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts Pomona Water Reclamation Plant, which has been transitioned to SNR and has achieved a 50% reduction in aeration energy consumption. Carollo’s Natalie Beach, PhD, PE joins the panel of presenters in this second webcast where aeration and control system design considerations will be discussed. As municipalities and industries seek ways to reduce waste and cut emissions, co-digestion is gaining traction as a game-changer in renewable energy. By combining food waste with wastewater solids, this process boosts biogas production, turning waste into a valuable energy resource.
