The Lake City Partners North King County Enhanced Shelter at Aurora Oaks is a key part of the countywide homelessness response system overseen by the King County Regional Homelessness Authority. This 60 bed, continuous stay shelter is a leading example of how an enhanced shelter with integrated Client Services (case management, housing access, etc.) helps people swiftly access permanent supportive housing. This work is only possible thanks to funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce, King County, WA, the City of Shoreline, the City of Kenmore, the City of Bothell Washington, and the City of Seattle. We are grateful for the support and partnership of many local community, faith-based, and philanthropic organizations such as Catholic Community Services, Crista Ministries, Seattle Mennonite Church, NUHSA, SKCCH, Lucky Seven Foundation, and over 30 partner organizations like AURORA COMMONS and Hunger Intervention Program who provide referrals and services. Together, we are helping people who are unsheltered move from tent to front door. #homelessshelter #help #community

Chloe Gale, VP of Policy & Strategy at Evergreen Treatment Services, engaged in conversation with Jen Muzia, Executive Director of the Ballard Food Bank, and Dan Wise, Agency Director of Catholic Community Services to share ETS’ response system to policy leaders, including Seattle City Councilmember Dan Strauss, King County Councilmember Jorge L. Barón, and Director of Seattle Human Services Department Tanya Kim. “People heal through relationship and belonging,” said Gale. She spoke on ETS’ Drug Use Stabilization and Recovery System as a model for social change and building relationships with our community. The multi-organization group toured the Ballard Food Bank and Catholic Community Service’s Bridge Shelter to learn more about their program models and the vital resources both organizations provide to serve Seattle’s unhoused neighbors in #Ballard. Both organizations spoke of the gaps they would like to see filled in Ballard and its surrounding neighborhoods, like creating additional spaces for people with high needs, and making #treatment services more accessible. The Bridge shelter requested more access to permanent #housing as their residents become stable, so that they can welcome new people into their program from the street.
