To celebrate 34 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act we're featuring Able South Carolina, a disability-led organization that advocates for true inclusion for people with all disabilities. Able SC brings together community members and healthcare organizations to address the obstacles people with disabilities face in accessing basic healthcare through a first-of-its-kind SC Disability Public Health Taskforce. We’re proud to partner with Able SC through the STRETCH initiative as they ensure that people with disabilities are held as a necessary part of public health decision making. #ADAAnniversary #LocalChangemaker

Drowning is the second leading cause of injury death for children aged 5-14. But swimming and water safety lessons can reduce that risk. That’s why we’re teaming with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Bloomberg Philanthropies to help 20 community organizations offer low and no-cost classes to school-age youngsters in areas with higher drowning rates. #CSTE is excited to announce a new fellowship opportunity to support state, local, territorial and tribal data science capacity - the Senior Public Health Data Strategy Fellowship. Applications are now open until August 4 for host sites and fellows! With funding from the CDC Foundation’s Public Health Data Strategy Workforce Acceleration Initiative, the goal of this program is to place mid-career technology and data experts in state, local, tribal, or territorial health departments for a time-limited appointment. Fellows will play a critical role in advancing the goals of the Public Health Data Strategy (bit.ly/3ocsMT1). Host sites should be prepared to describe a shovel-ready project related to the Public Health Data Strategy. Host site supervisors and mentors will direct the day-to-day work of fellows. CSTE will provide administrative support (payroll, benefits, travel). Fellows can fill technical roles in informatics, engineering/software development roles, or project management roles. Interested in hosting a SPHDSF fellow? Apply at bit.ly/4cLsAOU. Interested in being considered for a role? Apply at bit.ly/4cY9XqQ.
