Center for Reproductive Rights
Law Practice
The Center for Reproductive Rights uses the power of law to advance reproductive rights as fundamental human rights.
About us
For over 25 years, the Center for Reproductive Rights has used the law to advance reproductive freedom as a fundamental human right that all governments are legally obligated to protect, respect, and fulfill. Since 1992, our attorneys have boldly used legal and human rights tools to create this world. We are the only global legal advocacy organization dedicated to reproductive rights, with expertise in both U.S. constitutional and international human rights law. Our groundbreaking cases before national courts, United Nations committees, and regional human rights bodies have expanded access to reproductive healthcare, including birth control, safe abortion, prenatal and obstetric care, and unbiased information. We influence the law outside the courtroom as well, documenting abuses, working with policymakers to promote progressive measures, and fostering legal scholarship and teaching on reproductive health and human rights. We are legal innovators seeking to fundamentally transform the landscape of reproductive health and rights worldwide, and have already strengthened laws and policies in more than 50 countries. Help us realize every woman's right to reproductive health and autonomy.

While anti-abortion extremists play ping-pong in court with our basic human rights, real people's lives hang in the balance. Texas has taken extreme measures to try to evade the federal law that requires hospitals to provide emergency abortion care, while simultaneously refusing to clarify what the medical emergency exception its own abortion ban actually means. 🗣️ No state is above federal law. Pregnant people NEED legal protections —it’s a matter of life or death.

Georgia's Judge McBurney—who on Monday ruled in our case to overturn Georgia's extreme six-week abortion ban—GETS IT. It's literally this simple: Women and pregnant people are not property for the state to control and manipulate. Our bodies belong to US and we will continue to fight tooth and nail against ANY and EVERY law that violates our fundamental human right to bodily autonomy. Period. 🧠🤔 How is sexual and reproductive health impacted by environmental degradation and climate change? So glad you asked! SRHR can be impacted by: ➡️ Forced migration due to more frequent natural disasters, sea level rise, extreme temperatures, and shifts in global weather patterns. ➡️ Reduced access to reproductive health services due to disrupted supply chains and lack of health providers, facilities, medicines and other supplies. ➡️Lack of clean and safe water, posing risks to maternal health. ➡️Increased exposure to pesticides and other toxic chemicals—which are known to harm fertility and pregnancies—by companies responding to environmental changes. For more information on the intersections between climate justice, environmental justice, and SRHR, check out our TWO new reports: https://lnkd.in/eAxbHsUq
