Sophia Friend let PLG at HubSpot 🔥 before joining Redfin and I sat down to talk to her about running better growth experiments 📈 because of how much scale and impact her work has had. Some things I loved about this episode: Small changes can lead to big results, so you don't always need to strive for the big changes. Keep experimenting! FOMO is real; find ways to implement it :) Reverse trials are a great example, and you can use them for individual features It's not all about experimentation -- you have to balance it with intuition. Check out this week's the Product Lunchbox and if you liked this then please let us know! https://lnkd.in/dYDsAx6s We're continuing to record and ship more episodes of these bitesized discussions on a single topic with current product operators offering tactical advice... so if you'd like to participate or know someone who'd be great then DM me!

Wow: one of our partners (Amplitude) just bought one of our competitors (CommandBar / Command AI) 💥 So what does that mean for Chameleon and me? 1️⃣ Analytics --> Impact Amplitude offers product analytics (which tells teams what their users are doing) but didn't have a way to directly influence those metrics. In-app experiences (nudges, prompts, announcements, guides etc.) can help move the needle on users taking action and driving results. 2️⃣ DAP market is hard to crack This isn't the first competitor to have exited the race this year: Userflow sold to Beamer; Dopt was acquihired by Airtable; Bento shut down. Building a sustaining product with high retention and a path to a big business is tough, but those left standing will have an amazing opportunity to win the category. 3️⃣ Fresh approaches are attractive The first-generation of user onboarding / adoption platforms (Appcues, Pendo) haven't won the category yet, and we still see new players popping up. Products that can take a new approach (with more native/embedded options, or leveraging AI in a smart and effective way) can win against incumbents. 4️⃣ We need to be 10x better A combined platform will always be appealing because it seems simpler to use the same tool more broadly. We've been fighting for a "best-in-class" approach, especially for UX (because better UX is an amazing weapon to win) and will have to go even harder on this especially once Amplitude integrates Command AI. 5️⃣ We'll stay stack agnostic We will improve our Amplitude integration, but also continue making all our integrations better, as we support all versions of the modern data stack. Chameleon is about being the best at the "in-product channel" regardless of what other tooling you use for data or marketing via other channels. Congrats to Spenser, Curtis, ibrahim and the broader Amplitude team: welcome to the category 🙃

We've had quite the journey, and one of the interesting/challenging aspects has been positioning... Initially we didn't associate with the "Digital Adoption Platforms" category (a term coined by an incumbent that we don't really compete with, WalkMe) but after some hard lessons we realized we needed to be part of an existing category, and differentiate within that. Listen to our co-founder & CEO, Pulkit Agrawal talk about this positioning challenge and other lessons learned on our journey!

Very proud of this one: thanks for choosing Chameleon, team Reforge! So proud that the #1 platform for PMs, to learn and grow their craft, chose Chameleon to power their in-app engagement. Here's why: > in-app notifications, announcements, nudges are still critical in driving user engagement and product adoption > product adoption is so critical for customer retention which is linked to revenue more than ever before (usage-based pricing, lower switching costs, more alternatives etc.) > as a design-forward team that cares about UX, it was important to Reforge to support modern patterns: Chameleon's EMBEDDABLES (in-line banners, cards etc.) were a true differentiator ⭐️ > beyond that, the Reforge team dug deep in their trial, especially because they had experience of another platform/vendor before. they really liked our customizability, control, and ease of use 🙌 Note: we *highly recommend* doing a thorough evaluation to avoid buyers remorse (and in fact we wrote a guide on how to evaluate effectively- will link in comments) > building in-house is always an option, but when Reforge is attempting to innovate quickly around tools (building on the success of their new Chrome Extension) it's better to invest their engineering resources on core features > we made it easy for them to do business with us; and we like to support all our customers with solutions, ideas, best practices, fast support and troubleshooting etc. Shoutout to Taylor and our amazing CS team, including Maxwell. Looking forward to working more closely with you Adam, Andrew, Ginny, Tess P., Tom, and Brian! (and thanks for the early support Gianna!)

    Content Marketing @ Chameleon

I'm 27, and I've never worked full-time from an office. And I don't think I ever will. People’s reactions are entertaining. They range from “Where do you make friends?” or “Wow, I wish!”. But the truth is, as long as it's in my control, I'll never ever work from an office every day. Even though remote work has its ups and downs, at Chameleon, we've found a very happy medium that lets me feel like part of a team and still have a life. Here’s how: ⏰ Flexible work hours. Your output is your currency. Get your work done in the hours you're most productive. 🇪🇸 Colleagues in the same country. Thoughtful hiring allows me to get together with colleagues who live close by. 🍩 Donut chats. Weekly slots for casual conversations with random team members each week. This, coupled with the rise of communities like Timeleft and Guiris de Mierda, never leaves you short of fun plans and opportunities to make real friends. And on the same note... It's not just because you work in an office that you'll make friends... If anything, the fact that I don't waste time commuting or gossiping to the person next to me at work leaves me more time to attend real-life, non-work-related events than the average office-life employee. But that’s just my take. Would love to hear the other side! Personally, I’ll take the ability to work out when I’m not exhausted and sneak in 20-minute naps over free coffee any day. And a big shoutout to Revolut Ultra for my 3 monthly WeWork passes when I start to miss office life (on my terms 😉).

Revenue Attribution◾️ Dreamdata◾️ Sales leader with a crush on marketing

That moment when you both proud of the G2 partnership AND your client shows up to the announcement webinar wearing your merch. Jay Filiatrault, thank you! Amazing job Chameleon! On the announcement side: Our fastest closing opportunities come from G2. Therefore we are so excited to announce that Dreamdata is now an official G2 partner. The coolest value add from this partnership is that you can build custom audiences directly from Dreamdata with G2 and GTM data and sync directly to your ad platforms. No more .csv uploads - live data updated every day. Someone looked you up on G2?  Someone is comparing the space?  You need to know this near real-time, so the right ads are placed to the right audiences! This is really exciting!

"The reason it wasn't successful is because it wasn't in our common dictionary of terms that we use at Snyk" Marcie Cheung is an ex-founder, VC EIR, and now Product Lead for Snyk's fastest growing product, driving $100M+ ARR 🔥 She discusses PRICING / MONETIZATION best practices and mistakes in Chameleon's latest Product Lunchbox episode (10 min mini-interviews on a single subject with current product operators, giving tactical advice). The questions we cover include: - What does it mean to lead pricing and monetization? - How do you go from idea to results? - What's worked and what hasn't? - How do you collaborate with the core product team? - What advice would you give to companies and leaders creating a new pricing / monetization group or pod? So much excellent advice and guidance from Marcie here; very glad to have her join 🙌 Check out the write-up and video here: https://lnkd.in/enmdsbzQ Fun fact: Marcie also runs the Women In Product Boston chapter 🦸 and joined a Chameleon dinner (where we met) 🙂 > One of my personal goals with this series is to elevate voices of current operators who are too busy doing their day-to-day product job to have time to create content or showcase their expertise. > So I encourage you to comment and repost this ♻️ to help bring more diverse voices into the mainstream of product thought leadership . > I'm also looking for more guests for future episodes of the Product Lunchbox so if you have anyone in mind or want to contribute please DM me! Thanks Giulia for the great production 🌟

This year, I've been to a dozen IRL events and met with more than 200 PMs in person and have learned these 3 things: 1. PMs learn mostly from small groups of trusted peers 2. A lot of people moved during COVID and are WFH, meaning they don't have office communities to tap into 3. "Mixers" are a bit basic but high quality events: curated, premium, exclusive are well received We've had such good feedback from those that we've ran (seriously, check the feedback wall at chameleon.io/events) that we just have to do more! So in October and November we'll be bringing great "Product Bites & Insights" low-agenda events to: 🌵 Austin 💂♂️ London 🗽 NYC (Brooklyn) 🏔️ Seattle ⛱️ San Diego 🌉 SF 🍁 Toronto The criteria to join is simple = experienced (5+ years) and current product operator at any software co (SaaS or otherwise) We will be curating the list so please register your interest asap at chameleon.io/events And tag 1 person (or more) who is in / has moved to one of these cities and may appreciate the heads-up 👇 Looking forward to hopefully connecting with you more deeply IRL 💚

Chameleon is coming to a city near you!🦎 👉 chameleon.io/events With more people than ever searching for ways to make connections, why not start with fellow product people? Our in-person events go beyond just product discussions; they’re for building connections that strengthen the entire product community and maybe even find a friend along the way. Check out our event schedule, and let’s meet IRL! 📍 San Diego | Seattle | San Francisco | Austin | Toronto | New York | London & thanks to Chartr for the graph 👏
