About us
Founded in 1972 and renamed in 1983, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is committed to leading a network of partners in eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition in our region. The Food Bank acquires and distributes healthy food across a 20-county service region including Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with help from its network of over 300 partner agencies. Last year alone, the Food Bank distributed over 15.1 million pounds (equal to 12.6 million meals) and served over 25,000 people each week. In addition to food provision, the Food Bank works to engage the public in the fight to end hunger and empower people to take responsibility for their health and their lives. "I joined the board of directors because my work with the Share Your Christmas food drive opened my eyes to the many faces of hunger in our community. The Chattanooga Area Food Bank is not just focused on feeding those in need; their mission is to eliminate hunger altogether. I am honored to contribute to their goals and collaborate on solutions that make a real difference." We're so lucky to have you aboard, Emily! 🌟🙏🍎

Our Foxwood Food Center served 3,751 households in September alone! Many of the 220,490 pounds distributed were made up fresh produce, like the beautiful variety of berries we've had this week. It's so important to serve our neighbors with the best products we can. 🫐🍓🍒💜 Foxwood is open Mon-Thurs from 9-4 and Fri from 9-12 at 3209 Wilcox Blvd. Guests can receive food once every 30 days. Walk-ins are welcome!

We had SO MUCH FUN hosting our inaugural Nooga Hunger Walk Run!🤩 Over 350 community members showed up and showed out to support families in our region, and we couldn't be more proud. Funds raised will provide 150,000 meals across our 20-county footprint. 🏃🚶♀️🏃♂️🚶🏃♀️🚶♂️ Thank you so much to our sponsors who made the day possible. #bettertogether

We recently wrapped up our 2nd Annual Freight Food Fight! Ten teams worked hard to feed our neighbors by volunteering and hosting a food and fund drive! We are so grateful for this group; together they helped provide 85,000 meals to our neighbors! The winners of the 2nd Annual Freight Food Fight are LYNC Logistics, LLC in the small group category, Lipsey Logistics Worldwide LLC in the medium group category, and Schnellecke Logistics USA in the large group category! Thank you everyone for making this a blast!!! #FreightFoodFight #EndHunger

Many (little) hands make light work! We brought the materials but the Avondale Community Center kids brought the muscle and hard work! Over 20 kids from the center helped us build 4-4'x8' raised beds that will soon be planted with fall vegetables. If they are even half as excited to garden as they were to use a drill, the garden will be a huge success 🙂 A huge THANKS to our partners for making this garden come to life - Chattanooga Public Library - Avondale branch, Floating Tree, Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors Parks & Rec and the HAMILTON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT Step One Garden Grant.
