With summer ending and a new school year beginning, we’re reflecting on our contributions to creating better learning environments for students and educators. We are proud to have continued our work for McDonogh School this summer, having completed the following projects on campus:   🌞 Chesapeake recently completed upgrades to McDonogh's lower school playground area. The design included over 500 yards of specially made playground wood fiber, boulders, site amenities and plants to encourage outdoor play and learning. 🍎 The Marlene & Stewart Greenebaum Middle School opened in 2021. This 67,000-square-foot educational facility provides a modern, state-of-the-art learning environment for students. 🔭 In 2018, the school opened the Fader Innovation Center. Built by Chesapeake, this wood-framed, open-concept space was designed for students to explore robotics, training, and STEM education. 🏀 Chesapeake renovated the existing middle and upper school locker rooms and training facility, including upgrades to the HVAC system which included UV lighting for COVID protection.    With one successful project at a time, we continue to expand our list of repeat clients through strong leadership, proactive problem solving, and precise estimates and expectations. Meet Chris LiPira - Senior Project Manager and this month's Hard Hat Hang Up.   Chris' interest in the construction industry began at a young age when he was fascinated by how materials could come together to create something completely new. As he grew older, he worked summers as a carpenter and eventually landed a job as a Project Engineer. From there, he moved on to become a Superintendent and eventually landed in project management as a Senior Project Manager.   As a Senior Project Manager, Chris finds great fulfillment in the collaborative nature of his work, stating, "Working together as a team to anticipate potential obstacles and overcome the challenges that come our way is very rewarding." At Chesapeake, Chris appreciates the supportive work environment. "At every level, there is a strong commitment to fostering an environment that supports each individual's growth and helps everyone achieve their goals," he says.   Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his kids, attending their sporting events, practices, and games. Work is progressing nicely at Select Auto Imports located in Alexandria, VA!   Preparations are currently underway for the demolition of the existing building, with significant progress made on the rooftop steel and metal decking. Additionally, drywall layout and metal stud framing in the basement and 1st floor are ongoing.   Upon completion, this new 17,409-square-foot automotive dealership will serve as a comprehensive sales and service center, including associated offices. Built on a hillside, the dealership will feature one floor semi-below grade and two stories above grade.   When it comes to automotive projects, Chesapeake always goes the extra mile. CCG Residential Construction has hit the ground running on Waldorf Station Apartments!   The site has been brought to grade, and the site work is well underway, with the last of the utilities being installed. In the first building, wood framing is progressing on the upper floors, and slabs are being poured for buildings 2 and 4.   Once complete, this multi-family project in Waldorf, MD will feature 302 apartments across eight buildings, including an attached clubhouse, a standalone pool cabana building, and covered parking.   CCG Residential is proud to collaborate with Greenberg Gibbons and MCB Real Estate on this joint venture to bring the Waldorf Station Apartments project from concept to completion!   With one successful project at a time, we continue to expand our list of repeat clients through leadership, radical candor, and precise estimates and expectations. Chesapeake is proud to have been awarded both a Diamond and Platinum Award from ABC Greater Baltimore.   40TEN, Baltimore's first mass timber office building, was awarded Diamond Excellence - the highest award level given. The office is 105,000 SF, designed by Moseley Architects, and features exposed timber, wood ceilings, and expansive glass lines.   The Platinum Award was given to Greenberg Gibbons Headquarters for their interior fit-out inside 40TEN. This 11,509 SF office space masterfully blends and incorporates workspaces, shared areas, and conference rooms with the exposed wood and architecture of 40TEN.
