Exciting news for Fresno businesses! The City of Fresno has received a $500,000 charitable contribution from PG&E to support two vital community initiatives. $400,000 will go toward the Energy Efficiency Grant Program, aimed at helping locally owned restaurants cut operational costs and enhance sustainability. A dedicated law enforcement professional, Chief Casto is committed to reducing violent crime, improving service levels, and strengthening professionalism within the department. Throughout her three-decade career, Chief Casto has risen through the ranks from Police Explorer to Interim Chief of Police, demonstrating a deep commitment to public safety, community policing, and department modernization. She has held leadership positions across multiple divisions, including Patrol, Investigations, Internal Affairs, and Support Services, overseeing critical crime reduction efforts, officer training programs, and major department initiatives. Her experience spans violent crime investigations, crisis response, and policy development, as well as labor negotiations, community relations, and technology implementation. She has played a pivotal role in advancing public safety through innovation, securing millions in funding for equipment and AI-driven policing solutions, and enhancing officer training to build a more professional and efficient force. Chief Casto was officially appointed to this role yesterday, February 12, 2025.
