    Today, the Health Department will be holding the annual free vaccine clinic at the Civic Arena, 100 North 4th Street, from 9am-noon as this is a walk-in clinic. The flu and COVID-19 vaccine will be available while supplies last. Those attending the clinic are asked to wear a shirt which allows access to the shoulder area. The clinic is open to those 19 years or older who live or work in Buchanan County. Insurance is accepted, but not required. Those with Medicare, Missouri HealthNet or privately insured are asked to present their card.

    A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Krug Park on Thursday, October 10 to mark the beginning of an exciting chapter for this beloved park. The ceremony allowed those in attendance to learn more about the upcoming enhancements, which include improvements to the amphitheater, children’s circus, castle, picnic area, and buffalo bowl. It also symbolizes the city’s commitment to honoring the park’s rich history while ushering in a future filled with renewed vitality and enhanced community spaces. Funding for the Krug Park renovation is provided through the half-cent parks sales tax approved by voters in 2021.

    Have unused or expired medications? Bring them to the Prescription Drug Take Back event on Saturday, October 26, from 10am-2pm, in the East Hills parking lot off Woodbine for safe disposal. You may bring controlled, non-controlled, over the counter substances and sharps. This event is sponsored by the Youth Alliance Partners for Prevention, Buchanan County Sheriff's Department and the St. Joseph Police Department. For more information, call 232-0050.

    There are only a few days left to take advantage of fall Clean Sweep. Clean Sweep is a program to assist St. Joseph residents in maintaining their property, however, it is not a substitute for regular solid waste (trash) collection.
