  • Last month, we celebrated the completion of our latest project – an addition to the Jackson County Recreation Center in Cullowhee, NC. At 30,500 square feet, the expansion adds much-needed aquatic facilities including a 6-lane lap pool and a zero-entry recreation pool that welcomes swimmers of all abilities. Taking cues from the Great Smoky Mountains backdrop, we designed spaces that connect people with their surroundings. Natural materials and energy-efficient systems work together throughout the building, while flexible community areas adapt to Jackson County's diverse needs. • For many, going off to college is an intimidating yet rewarding experience. With students stepping out on their own for the first time, having built-in friends just a few doors down makes this journey less daunting. College residence halls are fundamental in enhancing this experience, providing a safe atmosphere for students to learn responsibility, connect with others, and foster a strong university culture. These residence halls are vital to improving retention rates, promoting academic engagement, and facilitating easy access to campus resources. At North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Clark Nexsen is bringing Bluford Residence Hall to campus, expanding their robust student housing options while also expanding the footprint of the campus. This project solidifies the university's commitment to expanding facilities for its growing student population. Bluford Residence Hall will introduce 405 beds to campus, creating new opportunities for students to thrive. #blufordresidencehall #studenthousing #studentlife #universityhousing

Our team had a productive week last week at the educational design conference! Senior Architect Eve Szentesi presented our "Designing for Resilience" case study, sharing our flood-adaptive approach for Valle Crucis School alongside Principal Dr. Smith. During the presentation, Eve highlighted our practical solutions for building in a Western NC flood plain while preserving wetlands, demonstrating how our firm applies these resilient design strategies to real projects. Several of our team members including Aaron Brumo, Amy Dominov, AIA CPD, and Tyler McLauchlan AIA were also at the conference, representing our firm across various sessions. Thanks to everyone who attended and engaged with our session! #educationaldesign #wnc #vallecrucis
