Luna was featured on #BuiltInNYC! Read about Clay's team culture from the POV of one of our Engineering leads (and an absolute culture carrier 😌) 👇 "Every project we work on is a team effort, and we frequently do pair programming to learn from each other." "Our longest-running tradition is “DJ Fridays,” where we turn off the lights, play music and dance." When it comes to creating a go-to-market strategy, there are product- or sales-led motions. But which is best? Several factors determine which direction a startup should go in building its go-to-market plan, and ultimately, the decision comes down to your specific brand and goals. But there are some tips and tricks to finding the best path for your startup. Varun Anand, co-founder and COO of the data enrichment platform Clay, has not shied away from creativity for go-to-market strategizing. The Clay team wasn’t afraid to experiment with things like reverse demos and online communities as part of its GTM strategy. Here’s what Varun had to say about preparing a go-to-market strategy. “Growing a business is not this thing where you’re sitting in a lab, and you’re like, ‘This is the perfect strategy and how we're going to do our go-to-market.’ In some ways, it's a lot more chaotic than that. You're trying a bunch of things, usually randomly and arbitrarily, and this thing just starts working. So, let's just keep doing this, or just focus on this. You don't necessarily see everything until you just start doing it.” Hear more about Clay’s journey to success, and pick up tips for building your startup’s own GTM, with the latest blog in the Startups Scaling Smarter series with HubSpot for Startups. #gotomarket #productlaunch #startups

    Brand partnership Founder, DemandJen

Know what I find most interesting about Clay's brand?   It's not that Forbes named them as 1 of 25 VC-backed companies most likely to reach a $1 billion valuation.    It's that THEY'RE not the ones raving about how awesome they are.    Their users are. They're everywhere. It's hard to go a day on here without seeing a post where someone is giving little-kid-on-Christmas-day-energy about a Clay table they built.   Even so, we've all seen our fair share of disappointing use cases for AI in outbound. Icky "personalization-at-scale" tech that focuses too much on making the seller's job easier, vs. the reader's experience better.   It's why I'm a skeptic. Not a hater. A skeptic.   And, that's what I told Clay when they approached me about working with them on a brand partnership.    I'm a sales fundamentals gal who believes in using business acumen to build the right list (based on a problem hypothesis) and the right message (based on a well-researched POV). My business is built around this.   So, here's what they suggested:   A Live Clay Showdown on Aug 29th at 2 pm EST.    3 of their biggest advocates ("Clay Experts") will compete live to show how they built and use Clay workflows for various outbound jobs-to-be-done.    John Barrows🦾Eric Nowoslawski, and I will judge the output.    The best part?   Clay didn't ask us to ooh and ahh. They asked us to react honestly, live. BTW, I love that they suggested this and wish more brands took this approach to engage skeptics vs. paying people to say nice things. Want to join us? DM me or comment for the sign-up link 👊

Announcing the release of Custom Waterfalls! ⚠️ Problem: 🔴 Conditionally running enrichments is difficult in Clay (You have to go into each column and set a conditional formula) 🔴 Our set of predefined waterfalls can run columns conditionally, but lack flexibility on the integrations that run conditionally together ✅ Solution: 🟢 Custom Waterfalls gives more flexibility! Customize the combination of integrations, and run them conditionally based on the data being retrieved from each stage 🟢 Claygent can also be added to a Custom Waterfall to act as a catch-all case, which isn’t possible with predefined waterfalls ✍️ Couple Notes: 💡 Currently only a subset of our integrations / actions can be added as Custom Waterfall stages, but all providers + actions will be supported soon 💡Custom Waterfalls can’t be saved as templates (yet), so you'll have to recreate them from scratch each time. This and much more to be updated soon!

Founder at RevGenius | Helping Founders and GTM Leaders build Community-Led Brands & Movements of tomorrow

Clay has one of the most admired playbooks and companies in SaaS. They've recently been listed as one of the next unicorns by Forbes and raised a $42 million Series B round. What intrigues me the most outside of their product is the work they've done in building community, specifically in harnessing 'creators' and 'experts'. I sat down with Thomas Colitsas to unpack their playbook. And now I'm sharing it with you in the most recent The Collab drop. Shout out to Varun Anand, Kareem Amin, Nicolae Rusan and team for what they're building. Check it out 👇

Content at Clay | Ex HubSpot, Reforge

This is long overdue but I've been too busy building Clay tables ... //// Short version — I joined the team at Clay! 😍 🎨 🧮 Long version — There are four products in the past ~10 years that have blown my mind and significantly changed my day-to-day behavior 1. Spotify in 2011 — No more scouring Pirate Bay!?  2. Loom in 2017 — No more typing lengthy Slack messages with screenshots!?  3. OpenAI in 2022 — No more writers block or spending hours on research!? The fourth? Clay in 2024. Earlier this year I discovered Clay after a good friend Bruno Estrella left Webflow to join this small startup. I thought, “Damn he left Webflow? It must be a good product.” At the time, Bruno was working remotely from the North Shore in Oahu, living his best Bruno life, surfing every day. Until one day he told me the news. He was moving to NYC for Clay. I thought, “Damn he’s leaving North Shore? It must be a great team.” At that point, I started poking around in the product. Which spiraled into a series of texts to Bruno such as “DUDE. THIS PRODUCT IS SICK” and “OMFG I CANT BELIEVE THIS.” But I had some questions on my own niche use cases. Which led to meeting Clay experts like Michel Lieben 🧠, Patrick Spychalski, Alex Vacca 🧠🛠️, Cody Carnes, 🦾Eric Nowoslawski, Roshan Kathir, Michael Saruggia, and dozens of others.  I thought, “Damn all these people are building a business on Clay? It must be a passionate community.” After some time at Clay, I can confirm all of these assumptions are correct. The product is incredible. The community is passionate. And the people at Clay are unbelievably talented. It's wild what Bruno Estrella, Pranav Mital, Yash Tekriwal 🤔, Mishti Sharma, Sara Lundberg, Thomas Colitsas, Eric Engoron, Peter Kang, Osman S., Jess Bergson, Everett Berry, Alex Lindahl, Matthew Quan and dozens of other Clay teammates will ship in a matter of days. My heartfelt thanks to Bruno Estrella, Varun Anand, Kareem Amin, Mishti Sharma, and everyone for being so welcoming and kind. Ya'll are the best. Grateful to be here ❤️ --- ps have you heard the hype about Clay but still unsure how to use it? We'll be sharing the most creative (yet practical) Clay use cases over the next few weeks that we've seen from the community. Because when you give an artist a blank canvas, the possibilities are endless. ✨
