Crescent Communities colleagues recently had the privilege to learn about critical issues facing our education system and how to take action in our community. In August and September, our team supported local education through two impactful initiatives: 📝 A powerful panel on “Education: Challenges and Opportunities in CMS and Beyond,” where we explored innovative solutions and collaborations to improve education in Charlotte. Attendees heard from key community leaders like:  🗣️ Darren Ash from The ROC Charlotte 🗣️ Karen Calder from Classroom Central 🗣️ Ashelyn James from the CMS Foundation 🗣️ Alyssa Sharpe from Digi-Bridge 🗣️ Kenyatta Wheeler, MSW from Communities In Schools of Charlotte Mecklenburg, Inc 📝 Our annual school supply drive through Classroom Central. Thanks to our amazing team and partners, we collected over 3,600 essential items—everything from notebooks to markers—that will equip local students and teachers for success this school year. There’s nothing like the smell of new school supplies to inspire a bright start!

Our Crescent Cares volunteers partnered with The Bulb to sort produce and pantry items rescued from Trader Joe's, which were then redistributed to local shelters and community markets. Crescent Communities is proud to support organizations like The Bulb, which combat food insecurity in our communities by rescuing food that has been deemed "unsellable" but is still perfectly safe to eat. This partnership, along with our work with Nourish Up, is a vital part of our ongoing education about food insecurity and its lasting effects on communities locally and globally. 🌎
