About us

Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity transforms neighborhoods by engaging families and community partners in creating affordable housing. Since incorporation in 1986, Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity and its contributors have served over 1,600 families and served as a catalyst for the revitalization of more than 25 communities. Our dream is not to simply build one home at a time, but to transform and nurture communities where our success is only limited by our ability to dream and imagine. Each year we partner with hardworking families and the community to build 70+ homes, making Dallas Habitat the largest nonprofit homebuilder and the largest single family residential homebuilder overall in the City of Dallas for 3 years running. Dallas Habitat has adopted a strategic vision of transforming neighborhoods throughout the most impoverished communities in Dallas County. This vision, which we call, “Dream Dallas” is one of holistic revitalization in partnership with the Federal government, Dallas County, the City of Dallas, faith-based organizations, other non-profits, and private investors. • Volunteers are a vital part of our mission, and we celebrate them every year at our Volunteer Appreciation dinner. We recently held our annual event at the Dallas Arboretum and presented awards to Core Volunteers for years of service, Homeowner Services volunteers, Volunteer Sponsor Coordinators, ReStore volunteers, and Construction Site volunteers. Volunteers help Dallas Habitat impact hundreds of families each year through construction, retail, and more. Thank you to all of our volunteers for their selfless and invaluable gift of time. We couldn’t do what we do without you! If you’d like to become a Dallas Habitat volunteer, we have many opportunities for all skill levels and interests. We welcome individuals, corporations, community groups, faith congregations, and many more to join us in building affordable homeownership opportunities for local families. No prior experience is necessary; we’ll show you what to do! Visit https://lnkd.in/gVNAccg to learn more. 📸: Jason Janik

Early giving has begun for Communities Foundation of Texas' North Texas Giving Day 2024! Every dollar you contribute to Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity will help us unlock doors to affordable housing and financial freedom for hardworking families and people like Martha Rebollar, a single mother of two who put in 350 hours of sweat equity into building her home alongside Dallas Habitat volunteers. We held Martha’s home dedication this past weekend and she closes on her beautiful home this week. We couldn’t be more honored to help her achieve the lifelong dream of owning her own home and creating generational wealth for her children and grandchildren.    Donate today through Sept. 18 during the early giving period at https://lnkd.in/gWtC4vtE. Help us help more people like Martha achieve the pathway to a home of their own.

  • On Saturday, alongside our friends from the City of Irving and DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit), we had the pleasure of dedicating a new home to Martha Rebollar, this year’s beneficiary of Women Build, our annual initiative to invest in the future of women and build a new home for a deserving woman in Dallas County. Martha is a single mother of two who immigrated to Texas when she was 23. She currently works at Parkland Health where she is pursuing her nursing license. After logging 350 hours of sweat equity to help build her house with volunteers, Martha, her daughter, and her grandson now have a beautiful new home to make lifelong memories. Chaired this year by Nadine S. Lee, President and CEO of DART, Women Build has raised more than $1 million over five years to empower, educate, and unite women to build and advocate for affordable housing. Please join us in celebrating Martha’s achievement by leaving a message of encouragement in the comments to welcome her to her new home!

DALLAS AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OPEN BUILD TOMORROW | JULY 27, 2024 Habitat for Humanity (Habitat or HFH) was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller as a 501(c)3 Christian non-profit organization that builds affordable housing for under-resourced populations using volunteers, donations, and sweat equity from homeowners. As of 2023, Habitat operates in more than 70 countries. Since 1976, Habitat has helped 59 million people build or improve their homes. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g__Ydy-8 Dallas Housing Coalition shared a recent study by the Child Poverty Action Lab which found that Dallas has a 33,600-unit gap in housing which will grow to 83,500 by 2030 if no action is taken. Action is being taken and as always more action is needed. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gJ7eA3_y Tomorrow Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity's July Open Build continues at the Jamaica Street site. Passionate volunteers and homeowners will converge at 6:45 AM to move forward. I've been counting down for weeks with excitement, looking forward to my opportunity to lend a hand, swing a hammer, and learn more ways to engage. The size of the housing challenge needs everyone's help. It's a global problem. "According to UN-Habitat, the world needs to build 96,000 new affordable homes every day to house the estimated 3 billion people who will need access to adequate housing by 2030." (WEF, 2022) Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g4jxH4_g I'm looking forward to tomorrow's build here in Dallas. I hope you'll find a way to get involved however you can wherever you are. #HabitatforHumanity #HFH #DallasHousingCoalition #The4DUnicorn #4DU #4DUCommunitySolutions #UniversityHills #Volunteerism #Service #Impact #Legacy
