The United States Department of Defense's approach to cybersecurity is infused with #ZeroTrust principles to combat cyber threats, as outlined in the DOD Zero Trust Reference Architecture. To stop adversaries from compromising mission systems, we must continue to modify how we operate and secure our portion of the DOD Information Network, and our new Zero Trust Architecture contract does just that. ZTA enhances our identity, authorization and segmentation capabilities, while boosting our #Thunderdome solution with new services that govern and manage architectures, requirements and implementation plans to map out more detailed security controls and innovative orchestrator solutions. Why does this matter? All stakeholders that interact with and communicate on the #DODIN will benefit from better protection with a more seamless and secure user experience. We are a combat support agency, full stop. That said, what does our combat support look like given our focus on #IT and telecommunications? Would you have guessed it could involve sinking ships? Last month, 29 nations gathered for #RIMPAC2024, an annual joint military exercise in the Pacific. Part of the exercise included sinking the decommissioned USS Tarawa (LHA 1). When initial attempts failed, military leaders called on our Airborne, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Data Dissemination team for help. This #DISAPAC team provides secret, full-motion video feeds from manned and unmanned aircraft to the #USmilitary. The US Navy used our secret video recordings to assess the unsuccessful sink attempts and incorporate findings into after action reports. In the end, they successfully sank the ship, and moving forward, they'll be able to use the reports to refine sink operations. This is just one example of how our workforce strives to enhance #NationalSecurity.
