Thank you to Madi for her dedication and hard work during her summer internship with us. Having Madi on our team was a pleasure, and we wish her all the best in her journey ahead.
I am excited to share that last week I wrapped up my 3-month internship at Eagle Mine, owned and operated by Lundin Mining, as the Extractive Metallurgical Engineering intern this summer. In the short time I was there I learned many valuable skills in the lab regarding flotation testing and standard lab procedures. Additionally, I gained great experience in the plant through observation and practicing the safety precautions Eagle emphasizes. A big thank you goes out to the MET team at Eagle for their guidance and teaching in helping me better understand the metal extraction process. I am excited to take what I learned this summer and apply it to my future studies. Thank you Eagle Mine!

We're thrilled to hear about Katelyn's impactful experience during her summer internship, especially her work on the Underground Bolter Resin Bolt Driver. We wish Katelyn all the best in her academic and professional journey ahead!
I recently concluded my summer internship with Eagle Mine, marking the end of an enriching three-month experience. During this period, I gained extensive exposure to underground mining operations and the integral role of a mechanical engineer within this field. I had the opportunity to contribute to various projects across the mining and milling processes, utilizing the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology to drive project completion. A key project I was involved in was the development of an Underground Bolter Resin Bolt Driver. Collaborating closely with the engineering team and bolter operators, I played a significant role in designing and fabricating a new resin bolt driver featuring replaceable components. This project provided me with valuable hands-on experience in field troubleshooting and deepened my understanding of the PDCA process. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the employees at Eagle Mine, with a special shout-out to my mentor, Ryan Rozich, for an exceptional summer and the invaluable experiences I gained. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to delve into the complexities of underground mining and to acquire practical skills in troubleshooting, design, and project management. I look forward to applying the knowledge and experience gained during this internship to my future endeavors, both academic and professional.
