The latest episode of On Board with Transparent Leadership explores the profound impact of kindness and self-acceptance. We learn from Mark Raymond, Jr. that being kind doesn't cost anything - it's free, yet its effects ripple outward meaningfully. His journey to feeling comfortable in his own skin wasn't immediate. After his diving accident, he initially struggled with his identity. But through embracing who he was and choosing positivity, he found his path forward. This authenticity allowed him to connect genuinely with others who might otherwise feel uncomfortable about disability, creating bridges instead of barriers. A major win for autism support! Congress has reauthorized the Autism CARES Act, dedicating nearly $2 billion to expand services, enhance research, and provide critical resources to individuals with autism and their families. This funding prioritizes early intervention, professional training, assistive communication, and support for individuals across their lifespans, addressing the needs of children, adults, and aging populations alike. Easterseals is committed to ensuring that these advancements translate to meaningful support for the communities we serve. https://lnkd.in/gvEUFBSc

On Tuesday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth joined disability advocates to celebrate a groundbreaking final rule ensuring that airline passengers who use wheelchairs can fly safely and with dignity. Easterseals is proud to have been part of this historic moment, with our own Larry Bram, Senior Vice President of Innovation & Program Development at Easterseals DC MD VA, attending the event. We are energized by the recent progress we’re seeing in accessible air travel! On top of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s great work, Delta Air Lines has taken a significant step toward allowing passengers to bring their own wheelchairs on board and improved the accessibility of their maps and touchscreens, ensuring a more welcoming experience for all passengers. These achievements reflect the tireless advocacy of so many and represents real progress in making air travel accessible for everyone. Let’s continue to work toward making the United States the most accessible air travel market in the world!
