Ebb Carbon removes CO2 from the air by accelerating the ocean’s natural ability to capture and store carbon.
About us
Turning the tide on carbon change. Ebb Carbon is pioneering a new carbon removal solution by enhancing the ocean’s natural ability to safely store CO₂. Our electrochemical ocean alkalinity enhancement method has the potential to be one of the largest scale and lowest cost approaches to removing excess CO₂, while reducing ocean acidity.

Thank you, ClearPath, for bringing the Senate delegation to visit us as part of the Clean Energy Innovation Academy! It was a pleasure to showcase our work at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and we're excited to advance marine carbon dioxide removal as we work toward our shared energy and climate goals. Come back anytime!
This week, ClearPath brought a delegation of eight Senate staff to Washington state as part of its Clean Energy Innovation Academy (CEIA)! The delegation visited Energy Northwest’s Generating Station, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Ebb Carbon and PNNL Marine Sciences Laboratory - Sequim Bay, and Helion. Some of the trip highlights included seeing a nuclear reactor, visiting the soon-to-be-dedicated Energy Storage Launchpad at PNNL, observing how carbon dioxide is removed from water, and viewing a next-gen fusion generator up close. An all-of-the-above energy approach is needed to meet our energy goals and maintain grid reliability and affordability. It’s critical for American energy independence and meeting growing electricity demand that the U.S. leads in the development and deployment of these innovative technologies. A special thanks to Jud Virden, Robert Freeman, Jane Flegal, David Barbieri, Jason Imes, Marcia Burkey, Robin Langtry and Jason Evans for meeting with our group throughout the week!

🌊 Celebrating the Ocean - The Earth’s Chief Climate Regulator 🌍 On #WorldOceansDay, we honor the ocean not only as the largest ecosystem on earth, but also as our chief climate regulator! 🌊 Over millennia, it has regulated CO2 levels in our atmosphere—but human-made emissions have made its job harder, leading to 🌡️ temperature increases, 🌱 biodiversity loss, and 🌊 acidification. At Ebb, we're working with the ocean's natural processes to fight climate change! 🚀 We’ve made it to the final round of the $50M XPRIZE and are being considered for the first-ever U.S. government purchase of carbon removal by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). 🎉 Our momentum is building, with Series A funding and the launch of the first mCDR technology at a U.S. National Lab. Join us in celebrating the ocean's vast potential for carbon removal – a true climate hero! 💙🌊 #ClimateAction #CarbonRemoval #mCDR #CDR

Just in: Ebb Carbon has been selected as one of a handful of companies on the path to selling carbon removal to the U.S. government! 🇺🇸✨ This significant step shows the U.S. is serious about combating climate change and using carbon removal as a crucial tool in the fight. 🌍🔥 We’re proud that Ebb Carbon’s technology is being recognized as one of the highest-quality, most cost-effective carbon removal solutions on the market. 🚀💚 #CarbonRemoval #ClimateAction #Innovation #Sustainability #EbbCarbon U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) #oCDR #mCDR #CDR #climate #climatechange #CO2 #carbonremoval #ebbcarbon

Ebb Carbon is an XPRIZE finalist! As one of 20 finalists announced today in the carbon removal space, we’re working toward the $50 million grand prize that will be awarded in 2025. This is a great recognition of the incredible progress we’ve made in a short period of time to advance our marine carbon dioxide removal system. To be named a finalist, we had to meet a number of key milestones, including displaying operational maturity towards removing 1,000 tons of CO2 this year, and a viable pathway to reaching megatonne scale in the coming years. Over the next year, judges from the XPRIZE Committee will conduct verification visits at operational sites of all of the finalists, including Ebb. We’re incredibly excited for this next step and to show the judges our technology in the real world. #oCDR #mCDR #CDR #climate #climatechange #CO2 #carbonremoval #ebbcarbon
