The Nursing Extern Program offers an immersive experience in nursing at ECU Health, allowing student nurses to gain valuable insights, skills and connections essential for their professional development. "We are very thankful for ECU Health’s efforts to give our students a chance to learn some of the inner workings of their profession now, before they graduate. Dr. Audy Whitman is the Program Director for the Rural Family Medicine Residency program at The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and an eastern North Carolina native. “I am from a small town called Seven Springs, North Carolina. It was and is a farming community,” Dr. Whitman said. ICYMI: Hunter Venters grew up in Pitt County and has stayed home to serve eastern North Carolina as a clinical manager with ECU Health EastCare. After spending time caring for surgery and trauma patients at ECU Health Medical Center, he moved to the air ambulance team in 2012. “Every day I’d see my patients land on the rooftop and come to me. 🐾 Today, we're celebrating our amazing hospital helpers Sam and Clive! Clive is the rehab therapy pup at ECU Health Medical Center and is a part of the Animal Assisted Therapy program. Sam is the facility pup at Maynard Children’s Hospital. They provide comfort and joy across ECU Health and are cherished members of the team.
