Growth Equity Principal at Energize Capital

Here's to two years with Energize Capital!    It's been two busy years full of chasing cool companies, interacting with gifted founders and executives, digging into the energy and industrial markets, learning from talented investors, traveling to new places and so much more.    One of our guiding values at Energize is "We Choose Growth Together." Thank you to Kevin Stevens and John Tough for trusting me to grow into this role and to my investment teammates for taking on the challenge two years ago of teaching a generalist investor what the energy world is all about.   I feel truly lucky to be a part of this team, and I'm looking forward to continuing to "choose growth" with you all over the coming years!

At Energize, you'll often hear us say: "There are no straight lines." We know that the entrepreneurial journey can be a long, challenging road - and it's especially nuanced for founders building and operating in the climate market. We're here to provide support for our portfolio companies through all their twists and turns through Energize EDGE.   For more than a year now, we've been growing our capacity to support our portfolio companies through the Energize EDGE program. EDGE is our formalized collection of post-investment platform services, built to drive value creation and preservation across the Energize portfolio.   We provide support across 5 key pillars:  - Go-To-Market Strategy - Finance & Operations - Impact & ESG - Communications - People In each of these areas, our EDGE team provides hands-on support and expertise, as well as best practices, playbooks, events and communities, so that our portfolio companies can achieve their greatest potential.   Learn more about EDGE on our new webpage: https://lnkd.in/dTy_Gqsb

I am still smiling about the success of the Energize Capital NEXT conference that my team put on a few weeks ago! We had nearly 225 people attend in a jam-packed day of content! At Energize we believe the climate solutions market is big enough to deserve and reward specialists. Our ecosystem and market opportunity has grown nearly 10x in scale and complexity over the past decade, and all data points indicate the growth will persist. I'm thrilled that this conference has become a central point for all stakeholders that see a similar future market and resulting opportunity. A big 'thank you' to our team, portfolio executives, co-investors, strategic partners, and the entrepreneurs that showed up to make this a knockout event. A special thank you to the individuals that participated from Energize Capital, Invenergy, Blackstone, ZEDEDA, CBRE, Lazard, B Capital , Andreessen Horowitz, Jupiter Power, Juniper Square, Sitetracker, Aurora Solar, Crux, Banyan Software, Blumen, Elum Energy, American Clean Power Association (ACP), Amperon, Tim Healy, World Business Chicago Let's do it again in 2025!

A big welcome to Agustina Soriano Sergi (Agus)! 👏 Agus joins Energize as an investment associate after completing her MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management, where she focused on the intersection of climate and entrepreneurship and worked at Fifth Wall as an MBA Associate on the climate tech team. Originally from Buenos Aires, Agus holds an Engineer's Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology (ITBA). She began her career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and later as a Product Owner and Chief of Staff at an early stage fintech startup. We’re so excited for Agus to bring her operating experience and global perspective to the Energize team!

🌿 Thanks to everyone who joined us for Energize NEXT this year! We were thrilled to host 200 attendees from 150+ companies, representing the full spectrum of the climate ecosystem—ranging from seasoned industry leaders to rising innovators in the startup and corporate sectors. Across 8 sessions, we saw dynamic conversations unfold about the future of energy and technology. 🔑 Some key takeaways included: 1. The energy transition is inevitable and driven by economic factors, not just policy. Renewable technologies like solar, wind, and batteries make financial sense. 2. Election results may influence the speed of the transition, but they won't stop it. Renewables are here to stay, with little chance of significant policy rollbacks. 3. Major challenges remain in infrastructure and supply chains, particularly with transmission and grid interconnections. AI's growing energy demands are adding to these bottlenecks. 4. Onshoring manufacturing in the U.S. is gaining momentum, thanks to incentives like the IRA. 5. Software will be crucial to solving energy challenges, from optimizing solar to battery deployment and energy management systems. 6. The key to success? Your team. Passionate, mission-driven teams are making a real impact in this space. ➡ We're excited to see what's NEXT in climate software! #EnergizeNEXT #ClimateSoftware #ChicagoClimateWeek

    Co-founder & CEO | Patch - We're hiring! patch.io/careers

Chief Sustainability Officers have to master such a wide variety of complex domains. Their jobs encompass regulatory compliance, navigating rapidly evolving science, growing and protecting the company’s brand, and above all, delivering real climate impact in service of business goals. Increasingly, we’re seeing CSOs having to confront yet another complex issue — carbon markets. Savvy CSOs recognize both the climate and the business imperative for engaging with voluntary carbon markets. But there isn’t a standard operating procedure for integrating this critical climate lever into their broader climate strategies — until today. Combining Patch’s carbon market expertise with Workday’s practical implementation experience, CSOs now have a sector-agnostic step-by-step playbook for: - Setting strategic goals for carbon credits. - Navigating policy and regulatory compliance. - Developing a budget for a carbon market strategy. - Delivering clear climate impact on behalf of their company. If you’re a CSO looking to level up your climate impact, I’d highly encourage you to spend sometime with this playbook to understand how climate leaders like Erik Hansen and Bee Hui Yeh are forging a new path for impact and the paths you can take to do the same. If you'll be in New York for Climate Week and want to dig into the details of the guide, I'd love to find some time to connect.
