Operating the Psychedelic Support Line... https://linktr.ee/firesideproject
About us
Fireside Project is a non-profit organization that operates the Psychedelic Support Line - the first support line in the world specifically aimed at helping people navigate psychedelic experiences. Our diverse, compassionate, and culturally attuned volunteers offer non-clinical emotional support by phone and text message to people in the midst of psychedelic experiences or who are exploring the meaning of past psychedelic experiences. Fireside Project is honored to be guided by some of the brightest lights in the psychedelic movement and helpline community. Our Advisory Board includes, in addition to current and former managers of local helplines, psychiatrist and author Dr. Julie Holland; psychedelic communications expert Brad Burge; Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF Dr. Joseph Zamaria; co-founder of the Yale Psychedelic Science Group Dr. Jordan Sloshower; co-founder of Women’s Visionary Council Annie Oak; and Associate Professor of Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies Dr. Nick Walker, among others. There is a urgent need for the services Fireside Project provides. Facing an international mental health crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and with research rapidly advancing into psychedelics to treat mental health conditions, growing numbers of people are using psychedelics, many for the first time. Psychedelics are increasingly being used in supervised therapeutic or ceremonial settings, but many people are experimenting with them while alone, and with no one to turn to if their “trip” becomes too intense. Fireside Project's mission is to help people fulfill the potential of their psychedelic experiences by providing compassionate, accessible, and culturally responsive peer support, educating the public, and furthering psychedelic research, while embracing practices that increase equity, power sharing, and belonging within the psychedelic movement.

A piece from Fireside's Founder and Executive Director, Joshua White, about his recent ibogaine journey at Beond Ibogaine Treatment .
I'm excited to share with all of you by far the most personal piece of writing I've ever shared publicly. It's an account of my ibogaine journey at Beond Ibogaine Treatment to treat childhood trauma and the unhealthy life patterns that the trauma set in motion. I'm sharing this piece in the hope that it will encourage people to see the vastness of ibogaine's healing potential, which in my view, extends far beyond Opioid Use Disorder, PTSD, and TBI. Infinite gratitude to Talia Eisenberg, MBA, Tom Feegel, and their magical team at Beond. They truly are doing the work of saints. Thank you to Lucid News, Inc. for publishing this piece. https://lnkd.in/gU3crf7M

Check out this new interview on Beond Ibogaine Treatment 's podcast with Fireside's Founder, Joshua White, where he discusses the importance of incorporating non-clinical support, like the peer support provided on our Psychedelic Support Line, into the continuum of psychedelic care.
Why Lykos Therapeutics (formerly MAPS PBC) psychedelic-assisted therapy protocol may not be scalable? (as explained by Joshua White, founder and Executive Director of Fireside Project. As more people look to psychedelic medicines to improve their health and well-being, it’s clear that a model that requires two therapists to sit with every individual receiving psychedelic therapy is not scalable. Josh joined Amanda S. on the Ibogaine Uncovered podcast to discuss the role and value of non-clinical support in the psychedelic space, and to share about his recent ibogaine experience at Beond. Joshua underscores the need for more non-clinical support in the psychedelic realm, including coaches and peer supporters like the ones at Fireside Project. He suggests that peer support is not only more financially accessible but may also better meet the needs of individuals undergoing psychedelic journeys more of what they need before and after a transformative experience, especially depending on a peer’s familiarity with psychedelics. As Josh experienced during his time at Beond, having the right support, whether clinical or not, helps create a safe container for a psychedelic journey – whether that journey takes place in the Amazon rainforest, or in a hospital bed with noise-canceling headphones and an eye mask at an ibogaine treatment center in Cancun. For example, with Ibogaine, there is no need for a therapist during the treatment. At Beond, there are coaches before and after the treatment. What we witnessed at Beond, peer-to-peer support plays a huge role in healing. What are your thoughts on the ideal model for psychedelic therapy? Should we stick to the MAPS protocol requiring two therapists, or is there room for non-clinical support to play a crucial role? Are both possible for different situations and needs? #psychedelictherapy #maps #psychedelicresearch #harmreduction #firesideproject

At Fireside, our true North, our ideal vision, is a beloved psychedelic community where people of all identities and backgrounds can feel represented, welcomed, celebrated, and, most importantly, safe. That’s why we value the diversity of our volunteers so much — because we know we need that to support the diversity of our callers, callers who might need identity-based support that can only be provided from someone who is like them. We’re looking for volunteers to join us in operating our psychedelic peer support line, and applications close in just two days. We’re looking for people like you. Are you ready to lend a helping hand? Apply now at the link in comments. We’d love to see you here. 🔥 Applications are due this Thursday, 2/29 🔥 #psychedelics #psychedelicsupport
