Having experienced a layoff firsthand, I can attest that the perceived versus actual support gap is real—and disappointing. This isn’t due to a lack of empathy or effort by HR teams, but rather an issue of technology and service delivery. Imagine if onboarding were handled like offboarding: “Here’s a PDF with some phone numbers, emails, and website links.
