Meet the Veteran Wellness Alliance with AJ Veal, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator at Shepherd Center SHARE Military Initiative. Here are three steps he shared that veterans can take in healing: 1. ASK FOR HELP BEFORE THE SNOWBALL STARTS. “You're not taking up a seat. You deserve high-quality, comprehensive care – you have sacrificed enough already.” 2. NOTICE THE SIGNS. “Symptoms of TBI are poor memory, headaches/migraines, fatigue, nausea, balance issues, light sensitivity, emotion regulation, impulsivity, and poor sleep.” 3. SHARE IN THE HOPE. “I am looking forward to the day when drinking, gambling, and swapping war stories is no longer an outlet to building a quality life. I am looking forward to meeting the next person that reaches out for help.” Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gRf-MAYc

"As the notes of “Taps” echoed across Arlington during the ceremony, my thoughts turned to the next generation and the importance of Exit12’s work using the arts to improve well-being within the military community and to share the stories of those who served, aiming to reduce veteran suicide," says Román F. Baca II, PhD(C), MFA, a #StandTo Veteran Leadership Program Scholar, reflecting on being part of a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Repost from the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas: “Former President George W. Bush reminds us that Americans of all faiths must stand together in times of crisis: ‘The American people and the American government must support the people of Israel. We honor our shared values in freedom, democracy, and justice. We remain steadfast against terrorism and hatred . . . May God bless Israel. And may God continue to bless America.’ Thank you, President Bush, for your support on the first anniversary of October 7th.”

"For the children who have survived, the mental toll of the war has been terrifying. Ukrainian children have spent between 3,800 and 4,500 hours sheltering from air raids. Additionally, survey data of parents identified 13-to-15-year-olds having trouble sleeping and experiencing intrusive thoughts and flashbacks – a clear manifestation of post-traumatic stress. Russia has gone a step further and admitted to kidnapping almost 700,000 Ukrainian children since the full-scale invasion – a grave violation under international law. [...] These issues should unite all Americans – despite Russia’s disinformation campaigns intended to persuade the U.S. to abandon Ukraine and turn Americans against one another. We must continue to hold Russia accountable for its many crimes committed in Ukraine, especially against its children." — Bush INstitute's Igor Khrestin Read the full article on the children of #Ukraine: https://lnkd.in/gssHHDgD
