Gibbons is pleased to announce that Renée Rubino, Esq., MBA, Manager of Marketing Communications, has been sworn in as President of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association for the 2024-2025 term. The Board was sworn in on July 9th by a former NJWLA President, the Honorable Jessica S. Allen, United States Magistrate Judge for the District of New Jersey. The #NJWLA is an independent association of attorneys, law students, and judges, whose mission is to advance and retain women of all backgrounds to the highest levels of law firm, government, academic, community, corporate, and judicial positions. Congratulations to all the board members!

Gibbons proudly sponsored Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin’s 15th Annual Bowl for Hunger last night. Members of the firm’s #Government & #Regulatory Affairs Group participated in the event and had a great time while supporting Bowl for Hunger— an initiative dedicated to aiding food pantries serving New Jersey residents. NJ’s #foodpantries play a crucial role in providing essential support to individuals and families facing food insecurity, offering not just groceries but access to nutritious foods that might otherwise be out of reach. On April 23, 2024, the U.S. Department of Labor (#DOL) released a final rule, effective July 1, 2024, that increased the salary thresholds for the executive, administrative, professional, and highly compensated employees exemptions under the #FairLaborStandardsAct (#FLSA). This rule will require employers (except the State of Texas) to raise the salaries of #exempt #employees or reclassify those employees as #nonexempt. In two highly anticipated decisions, the Unites State Supreme Court issued rulings that will dramatically impact the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) enforcement authority, making securities-fraud prosecutions markedly more difficult for the #SEC and altering the administrative state.
