Researcher Kathryn Lougheed once wrote, "Throw in the compounding problems of drug resistance, the #HIV epidemic, and #poverty, and it’s clear that #tuberculosis remains one of the most serious problems in world medicine." What's more serious than the disease? The activists working to end it. Last week, more than a hundred tuberculosis advocates, survivors, clinicians and researchers met in Durban, South Africa for the TB Alliance Community Engagement Forum. They gathered to deliver a powerful message: we can overcome TB. These individuals are working inside the hardest hit communities around the globe to shepherd clinical trials poised to transform treatment. Putting science to work for better, faster TB cures.
About us
We envision a world where no one dies of tuberculosis. However, this cannot be achieved without improved, faster-acting, and affordable tuberculosis drug regimens that are available to all who need them. These new cures can bring renewed health, hope, and prosperity to millions. Since our inception in 2000, TB Alliance has led the global search for and development of new TB regimens, catalyzing the field and convening cross-sector partnerships to forge the progress that is urgently needed for better TB treatments.
