Greetings from Tanzania! 🌍 We're thrilled to share highlights from a recent regional workshop in Dar es Salaam, held from 2-3 July 2024, organized by the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa with support from USAID, KNCV TB Plus Foundation, and Unitaid’s ASCENT-DR TB project, to expedite the adoption of the latest WHO guidelines for managing drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). Key stakeholders, experts, and representatives from 15 countries exchanged valuable insights on key topics. In particular Stop TB Partnership’s Global Drug Facility’s Team Leaders, Elena Mochinova and Maya Kavtaradze, along with Regional Technical Advisors EKPENO AKPANOWO, Maria Ochigbo, and Salama Mwatawala, led a crucial session on procurement and supply chain management for new DR-TB treatment regimens. The session emphasized the importance of a robust supply chain, ensuring a smooth transition to new treatment protocols. Stay tuned for more updates as the Stop TB Partnership Global Drug Facility team will conduct field visits to the central medical store and health facilities later this week! #EndTB #HealthforAll #DrugResistantTB

In 2023, the number of forcibly displaced people reached 117.3 million, presenting a major global issue. Refugees and migrants are particularly vulnerable to TB due to their living conditions. To tackle this, the Stop TB Partnership launched the Key and Vulnerable Populations Size Estimation Tool in 2023. This tool helps countries prioritize TB cases among these populations for targeted programming and resource allocation. Additionally, through the Challenge Facility for Civil Society Round 12, Stop TB Partnership supports over 10 countries to use this tool to develop a TB response focused on key and vulnerable populations, addressing human rights and gender barriers to TB care. #EndTB #WorldRefugeeDay #WithRefugee 🔗: https://lnkd.in/d-Z6WvA4
