The Parks Conservancy is a nonprofit, membership organization that supports the Golden Gate National Parks.
About us
Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties, north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge, and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco. The Parks Conservancy engages at the intersection of national park sites, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience. Collaborating with partners, our staff are dedicated to enhancing public awareness and providing volunteer and educational opportunities in the parks. We are park builders, caretakers, ambassadors and educators, all working to connect people to parks, in support of our vision Parks for All Forever. Join us.

Un-bee-lieveable find!🐝🐝🐝 The Tamalpais Bee Lab has spotted a rare bee that hasn’t been documented in Marin for over 40 years: the San Francisco leaf-cutter bee (Trachusa gummifera)🐝🍃🎉 The species didn’t turn up in our initial surveys to inventory Marin’s wild bees—the project of our Tamalpais Bee Lab community science program—so the Bee lab designed a search party to try to find it and were successful! Now, our scientists can learn more about this special species’ ecology. It’s hopeful news for Mt. Tamalpais’ biodiversity, and for other species that could still be out there. To learn more about the San Francisco leaf-cutter bee please visit https://lnkd.in/g6UwQFnH. The @OneTamalpais partnership mobilizes the resources of the @ParksConservancy, @GoldenGateNPS, @Marin.Water, @MarinCountyParks, and @MountTamalpaisStatePark to ensure a vibrant future for Mt. Tamalpais.💚 📷 : This photo is one of the first images ever taken of the San Francisco leaf-cutter bee (Trachusa gummifera) in its entirety. The bee had not been seen for decades before One Tam’s community science program found it in Marin County in 2024. This photo was taken by a professional biologist. Wildlife monitoring is conducted with appropriate training and handling under agency permits. © Sara Leon Guerrero/ Parks Conservancy Please reach out to media@parksconservancy.org for information about using this image.
